Cluster: Engineering Job Purpose We are seeking a Research Fellow at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to undertake high-quality applied research for a funded project at the Singapore Institute of Technology aimed at advancing understanding of lift-generated noise in residential buildings. The role supports the achievement of the grantor’s objectives and proposed research outcomes through rigorous investigation, close collaboration with the PI and research team, and the development of industry-relevant insights for the built environment sector. We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented researcher who is committed to producing careful, high-quality technical work. The primary responsibility of this role is to plan and execute field measurements and analytical investigations of lift traction motor noise and vibration in residential buildings, including conducting sound intensity and vibration measurements, analysing acousto-structural transmission paths, developing predictive models, and producing research outputs that support practical noise mitigation solutions for the built environment industry. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team members to ensure that all technical milestones and project deliverables are achieved. Undertake the following responsibilities in the project: i. Plan and conduct field measurements of lift traction motor noise and vibration in residential buildings using sound intensity probes, accelerometers, and multi-channel data acquisition systems. ii. Perform signal processing, vibration analysis, and acousto-structural transmission path investigations to identify dominant noise sources and structural coupling mechanisms. iii. Develop and implement measurement protocols, experimental setups, and data acquisition procedures for airborne and structure-borne noise studies. iv. Analyse measurement data using specialised acoustic and vibration analysis software, and develop predictive or simulation models to interpret noise propagation and structural vibration behaviour. v. Prepare technical reports, research publications, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic, industry, and funding stakeholders. vi. Assist in the development of mitigation strategies or engineering guidelines to reduce lift-related noise transmission in residential environments. Coordinate site access, field measurements, and technical discussions with project collaborators, industry partners, and building stakeholders. Coordinate procurement of equipment, liaison with vendors/suppliers, and ensure proper calibration, operation, and maintenance of measurement instrumentation. Carry out laboratory and project risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health (WSH) regulations during field measurements and experimental work. Co-supervise undergraduate student projects related to acoustics and vibration measurements when required. Work independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary research team, to ensure timely completion of project tasks and research outputs. To communicate in any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. Have relevant competence in acoustics, vibration, and structural dynamics. Familiarity with signal processing and vibration/acoustic analysis techniques. Experience with data analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent engineering software. Experience with experimental and instrumentation measurements setup for noise and vibration (e.g., sound intensity probes, vibration sensors, or similar instrumentation) involving microphones and accelerometers, or multi-channel data acquisition systems will be advantageous. Knowledge of building acoustics, structure-borne noise, or machinery vibration will be advantageous. Prior research experience with peer-reviewed publications in acoustics, noise control, or vibration engineering will be advantageous. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs Job Requirements A Master’s degree in Radiography or related field. Possessing a PhD will be an added advantage. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in the acute / community / other clinical rehabilitation setting. Possess clinical experience and competence in Radiography. Having expertise in general radiography or other area of specialization (e.g., MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Angiography and Fluoroscopy) is preferred. Knowledge and experience in working with simulated healthcare institution and community environment and educational manikins will be advantageous. Extensive experience and knowledge of industry practices to bring industry perspective to SIT. Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an academic research project funded by MPA, where you will be part of the research team under the project titled: HarbourCraftSafe: Fire Resilinet Battery Room Design for Next-Gen Electric Habour. The project is in collaboration with two local industry collaborators. Under this job title, you will develop a CFD modelling platform to evaluate the combustion, flammable and toxic gases emission and dispersion characteristics resulted from battery fires/thermal runaway in the battery room and beyond, considering the various common battery chemistries in eHC and atmospheric conditions. You will also need to experimentally characterise the heat release rate (HRR), flammable and toxic gases emissions of various types of batteries potentially deployed in eHC through reduced scale testing. Lastly, you will also need to evaluate the various gas monitoring sensors performance in detecting the battery gas releases for remote monitoring and early detection, and evaluate the potential fire suppression strategies on battery fires. Job Responsibilities: Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students under the Project PI. ii. Meeting the deliverables by carrying out the computational simulations and experimental studies planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe to meet the deliverables. iii. Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects. iv. Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the PI. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements: Master or Ph.D (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Marine and Offshore Engineering or related fields. Strong knowledge and experience in battery fire simulation is high advantageous. Hands on experience on experimental studies Familiarity with CFD applications working on industrial related projects using high performance computing clusters would also be advantageous Strong foundation in Fluid Dynamics Strong prior experience in CFD – particularly in battery fire combustion and spread. The role We are seeking motivated and collaborative individuals to join our team in delivering high-quality, reliable, and valid assessments within our undergraduate medical programme. We have three part-time 0.5 FTE posts available, each with a dedicated focus on Year 2, Year 3, or Year 4 of the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) course. Working closely with the relevant Year Lead and the Director of Assessment, successful candidates will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative formative and summative assessments, drawing on contemporary assessment theory and evidence-based methods, including knowledge tests, OSCEs, workplace-based assessments, and professional portfolios. The role includes involvement in the design and delivery of assessments across the programme. All postholders will contribute to teaching across a range of formats, including large and small group teaching, case-based learning, and clinical and communication skills sessions, as well as supporting student electives and progression. In addition, successful candidates will provide academic support through group and one-to-one engagement, contribute to standard setting, assessment design, and OSCE examining, and support admissions processes.
