About Samsun University
The Samsun University is located in Samsun, Turkey, and was officially established as an independent university in 2018, after separating from Ondokuz Mayıs University. The main campus is located in the Canik district of Samsun.
The university was originally founded in 1975, and became a private institution in 2012.
Currently, the university has five faculties: engineering; aviation and space sciences; economics, administration and social sciences; architecture, design and fine arts; and medicine (established in 2020).
Samsun University also offers a graduate school, providing opportunities for advanced studies and research across various disciplines. Additionally, the university has two vocational schools – Kavak Vocational School and Vocational School of Technical Sciences – aimed at equipping students with the practical skills and ability to excel in their chosen professions.
As part of its commitment to nurturing a holistic learning environment, the university actively supports student clubs and engineering teams engaged in research and development activities. These extracurricular opportunities allow students to explore their interests, enhance their skills and collaborate with peers to make significant contributions to various fields.
The two campuses, Ballıca and Canik, are designed to accommodate specific disciplines. The Ballıca campus primarily focuses on technical sciences, housing faculties such as aviation and space sciences, engineering and the school of civil aviation. On the other hand, the Canik campus emphasises social sciences, hosting faculties such as economics, administrative and social sciences, and architecture, design and fine arts, along with the faculty of medicine.
