Basic information and contact details for S. Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University
Named after a Kazakh poet, writer and national activist with impressive moustaches, S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University was established in 1957 with only three departments. It was set up in response to a new desire to develop long-fallow lands in northern Kazakhstan, which required experts in agriculture.
Today, it is the largest agricultural university in central and northern Kazakhstan. Located in the Kazakh capital, Astana, the university now offers 48 undergraduate degrees, as well as 86 postgraduate programmes.
Undergraduate programmes available include agricultural biotechnology, soil science and biochemistry, poultry breeding, protective forestation and thermal power engineering.
There are seven student dormitories, each with its own canteen. Each room also includes its own refrigerator. Dorms are managed by dormitory-based student councils. There are also inter-dorm leagues for a range of sports.
Additional clubs include debating societies in Kazakh and Russian, as well as clubs focusing on Kazakh handicrafts, environmentalism and dance.
