This includes consolidating discipline-specific, placement-based elective subjects into a centrally delivered subject suite, broadened to include new project-based WIL options embedded across the undergraduate curriculum. As a Teaching-Focused Lecturer in Industry WIL, you’ll coordinate and teach undergraduate and postgraduate subjects that deliver real-world industry project and placement experiences. Your work will empower students to develop employability skills across domestic, cross-cultural, and international settings. The role involves conducting literature reviews, synthesizing evidence, and contributing to high-quality written outputs across diverse topics, including: Public Health approaches to violence reduction Childhood adversity History of public health Religion and health Pets and public health AI in public health Health inequalities You will collaborate with colleagues across the Faculty (HITS), including other LJMU schools, including Nursing and Advanced Practice and Public and Allied Health. Most work will be campus-based, with some flexibility for remote working. You will hold a PhD in a health or science related field with experience in designing and conducting research using a range of research methodologies, together with experience in data collection and analysis. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a recognized university. Experience: A seasoned technical specialist with 10+ years of industry experience in software development lifecycles, with strong technical expertise and hands-on development experience. Programming Languages: C#, C/C++, Python, Java. Software Engineering Principles: Expertise in Object-Oriented Design, Microservices, and API Development. Cloud & DevOps Technologies: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Passion for supporting research and academic projects, with a track record of developing software solutions to address technical challenges. Extensive industry experience and knowledge to provide valuable industry perspectives in an academic setting. Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a keen interest in working closely with students in a learning environment. Committed to continuous learning and staying updated on industry advancements. Professional certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage. Candidates with exposure to Big Data and AI technologies will have an added advantage in supporting advanced research and applied projects.
