As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on applied research projects in partnership with a local SME, contributing to innovative solutions in food and chemical engineering. This is a fixed term contract position. Job Responsibilities  Support research and development activities in waste recycling, pyrolysis reactor, in the area of chemical engineering, thermal systems, and mechanical engineering.  Conduct design and improvement of the existing pyrolysis system, Perform experiments, data analysis, and technical reporting.  Collaborate with academic staff, industry partners, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.  Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all research activities.  T'o communicate with any relevant stakeholders to ensure project can be completed. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned. Expected qualities:  Serve as the process lead engineer in both design, engineering and testing of Pyrolysis Reactor Systems  Involve in developing the process control narrative  To generate project specifications, design philosophy, PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, operation manuals to comply with clients’ requirement  To carry out process simulations and develop heat and material balances  To carry out hydraulic design for pumps, compressors, blowers and develop respective process datasheets  To check design outputs, datasheets and drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness to design requirements and concepts  Involve in sizing the process instrument, pump and control philosophy  Experience in downstream gas cleaning processes with real experiences operating a plant  Knowledge in tar/PAH removal and separation  Prepare and deliver various engineering related presentations, both internally and externally  Support the R&D Team  Knowledge in skid module base and PLCs programming will be highly preferred  Possess good Solid-works skillset and/or ASPEN HYSYS/3D simulations expertise  Sound knowledge in applying AI into system applications  Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Thermal, Mechanical, Environmental or related disciplines).  Work experience in similar industries. Prior experience in waste recycling, pyrolysis, production of activated carbon, heat transfer, process design, process control would be an advantage. The Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering at the Aalto University School of Engineering invites applications for Assistant Professor in Industrial Digital Twins (tenure track) Aalto University Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering is a community of around 300 staff members – including 30 tenure track professors – assembled to research, teach, create, and develop solutions for society’s needs. Key research areas include marine and arctic technology; energy technologies and systems; mechanical systems and mechatronics; and materials, manufacturing, and product development. We are now looking for an assistant professor in Industrial Digital Twins that will be placed in Mechatronics research group at Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering. In this position you will have a chance to make an impact by research and education by developing further Industrial Digital Twins together with our stakeholders. This position strengthens department’s research profile in industrial digital twins, supporting industry and society as they move toward autonomous and intelligent machines and complex mechanical systems. The research will focus on digital twin–enhanced industrial machinery, industrial information integration, and connected assets through networks of digital twins, aiming to enable efficient, flexible, and resilient next-generation machines, such as autonomous robots and industrial systems. The research should not focus merely on simulation or model-based approaches but consider digital twin as a holistic approach for industrial information management through the whole life-cycle of the products. In addition, this professorship deepens the core profile in machine design for efficient and autonomous systems by adding a focused position on industrial digital twins, creating pathways to increased productivity, energy efficiency, resilience, and safety, as well as a transition to circular and service-based business models. It will leverage and further develop the Aalto Industrial Internet Campus (AIIC) as an open innovation environment for cyber-physical experimentation and industrial collaboration. The mechatronics engineering must find a balance between mechanical engineering core principles and emerging and cross-disciplinary technologies. This position is aimed to do this from mechanical engineering perspective. Merits which are limited to purely electrical or software engineering do not suffice. After all, we are also looking for a passioned educator, and we can’t highlight too much the importance of teaching and learning activities within the field. Research Fellow to join the Big Data in Health Group About us The Big Data in Health group at the University of Southampton is based in the Primary Care Research Centre. We aim to understand patterns, trends, and associations of diseases to inform preventive action in the UK and international contexts. Our group comprises a diverse, multidisciplinary team conducting high-quality, innovative research that addresses complex health and social care challenges of the 21st century. We employ traditional statistical and epidemiological methods, cutting-edge artificial intelligence algorithms, and qualitative research to provide a deeper understanding, insights, and applications.  About the role  In this role, you will join a successful interdisciplinary and mixed-methods team with extensive qualitative and quantitative expertise that conducts research to support people with multiple long-term conditions. The post holder will already be working in the field of multimorbidity. They will have good organisational and administrative skills. They will have excellent writing skills and be able to work independently to draft high-quality academic research papers and convey methodological results of findings through presentations using interactive visualisations.. This position is a unique opportunity to join an experienced, fast-paced and high-output research group, working closely with our supportive team to help deliver School for Primary Care Research (SPCR), National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded projects in populations with multiple long-term conditions. The post is offered full-time for 6 months and will be available starting in June/July. The salary for this position will be level 4.
