Job Description FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS Instructor I / Instructor II (25260593) The appointee is expected to take up academic and administrative responsibilities in the Department. The incumbent should collaborate effectively with stakeholders within the department and external collaborators. The appointee should demonstrate a high degree of self-efficacy and be able to serve as a role model for less experienced course assistants. Responsibilities : Delivering and preparing materials for tutorial classes; Assisting course instructors in conducting in-class exercises, marking assessments and class administration; Assisting faculty members and the General Office in organising academic and/or student activities; Mentoring less experienced course assistants; and Other academic and administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department, or Programme Directors. Requirements: A master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related disciplines; Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); Good analytical and problem-solving abilities; Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Self-motivation and willingness to learn; and Preferably proficiency in MATLAB/R/SAS. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Instructor II. The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
