The role This role sits within the Surrey Academy for Blockchain and Metaverse Applications and supports the delivery of research, funding, and industry engagement activity across emerging technology areas. You will work closely with academic leads and external partners to support funding applications, research coordination, and project delivery. The role is hands-on and suits someone who is organised, curious, and comfortable working across multiple workstreams. Key aspects of the role include: Identifying and tracking relevant research and innovation funding opportunities Supporting preparation of grant applications, including impact, alignment, and compliance sections Coordinating research documentation such as whitepapers, technical notes, and supporting materials Supporting journal submission and academic publication processes Mapping industry ecosystems, partners, and stakeholders in AI, blockchain, immersive and creative technologies Coordinating activity between academics, industry collaborators, and internal teams Maintaining clear records, timelines, and project documentation This is a part-time role (0.3 FTE/10.8 hours per week) available on a fixed term basis until 31 August 2026. Description The Opportunity New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks an accomplished scholar and visionary leader to serve as its next Dean of the Division of Social Science. This is a rare opportunity to shape a dynamic academic division at a pivotal moment in the university’s evolution. The Dean will lead a vibrant community of scholars who advance foundational and applied research on some of the most pressing issues of our time - ranging from inequality, governance, and social change - within a highly international and interdisciplinary environment. The Division The Social Science Division is home to over 80 full-time faculty, including a Nobel Laureate in Economics and a vibrant community of post-doctoral researchers in Economics, Political Science, Social Research & Public Policy, Business Organizations & Society, and Legal Studies. The Division offers five undergraduate majors as well as graduate programs. Faculty conduct world-class research that is both theoretically rigorous and globally engaged, with collaborations spanning every continent and close ties to policy and practice in the UAE and beyond. The role also carries significant responsibility for fostering an accessible and collaborative academic community and for representing the Division’s strengths to partners within and beyond NYU. As part of the senior administration, the Dean must work effectively and collegially with other deans as well as academic and administrative leaders. In addition to engaging with members of the Division of Social Science, they must also be able to work with faculty across the institution. The Dean must be committed to two-way communication, to fostering trust, and to building community at the campus, national, and international levels. Successful candidates will also be actively involved in embedding the teaching of specific academic writing, speaking and workplace communication skills in content modules across academic years and undergraduate programmes in different disciplines. CPC faculty are expected to develop and update curriculum through applied research in communication in the disciplines. They are also provided with paid leave to undertake consultancy work with industry and/or conduct courses for in-employment learners. We seek collegiate and team-spirited candidates who have corporate people management experience with thought leadership in professional communication and/or corporate training experience in professional communication.
