About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished and collaborative educator to join the School of Medicine and Public Health as a Lecturer in Clinical Education. In this role, you will contribute across the core domains of academic practice: Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, and Service and Engagement, supporting the University's Looking Ahead 2030 vision.

As a key member of the Joint Medical Program (JMP) teaching team, you will play an important role in the delivery and ongoing development of Phase 1 (Years 1 and 2) of the medical curriculum. You will work closely with academic colleagues, problem-based learning (PBL) facilitators, clinical skills tutors, professional staff, and external partners to deliver a high-quality student experience and foster strong learning outcomes across multiple teaching sites.

The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, educational innovation, and scholarly activity within a highly regarded medical program. You will also collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues across the JMP network, including the Central Coast Clinical School and the University of New England, to support a connected and contemporary approach to medical education.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:


	Completed/enrolled/willingness to enrol in a doctoral or masters qualification or equivalent accreditation in a health profession.
	Demonstrated leadership in clinical education teaching and learning activities, including responsibility for the preparation and delivery of course modules and having a central role in curriculum design/development, where appropriate.
	A commitment to health research and/or scholarship of teaching & learning, and a demonstrated record of publication or non-traditional research output in high-quality outlets.
	Skills in active supervision of student/trainee research projects and/or clinical placements.
	Ability to efficiently perform in allocated internal roles, sharing academic service responsibilities, contributing to outcomes of internal committees, and developing external collaborations.
	Demonstrated understanding of Australian healthcare structures, policies, and challenges, including primary care, hospital systems, and considerations for rural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

The School of Medicine and Public Health is one of the largest Schools within the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing. ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF ROBOTICS 

The School of Robotics is one of the seven industry-themed Schools in the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). Each School consists of an Education, Research and Development Institute (ERDI) for teaching and research collaboration, a one-stop School Office providing professional services to support student administration and activities, members of staff, and industry partners, and an affiliated School Joint-Venture Company jointly established by XJTLU and the School’s partner for industry-embedded teaching, learning, practical, and other activities. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCES


	A doctoral research (normally PhD) degree in electrical and electronics, mechatronics, intelligent controls, robotics engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, computer vision, mobile robotics, machine learning, data science and analytics, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent professional practice and engagement.
	Previous experience in coding (C/C++, Python, ROS etc) in robotics-related domains.
	Self-motivated for innovative teaching.
	Clear understanding of the philosophy and concept of Syntegrative Education (SE).
	Demonstrable past teaching/industry experiences or practices aligned with Syntegrative Education (SE).
	A commitment to Continual Professional Development in all areas of the role as an academic at the university.
	Ability to work, teach and research in English
	Strong team-work spirit.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE


	A good track record of engagement with business and industry.
	University-level teaching experience.
	Relevant industry experience.
	Appropriate research experience, including working with industry, for the corresponding academic position level.
	Experience in intensive teaching and problem-based learning, and a willingness to be innovative in teaching practices.

	Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.

		Conduct the research work in Human-in-the-Loop AI perception system for autonomous driving
		Work with the research team, collaborators and the industry partner to design the framework of the proposed solution
	
	
	Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
	Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
	Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment


Job Requirement


	Have relevant competence in the areas of Deep Learning/Computer Vision. The experience in diffusion models is a plus.
	Have a PhD degree in computer science/engineering or related disciplines.
	Knowledge of autonomous vehicles or cyber security will be advantageous.
	Have strong research record, preferably on top-tier computer science/engineering conferences.

	A Ph.D. (obtained or soon to be obtained) in Automation, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
	Solid theoretical foundation and outstanding research capabilities, with first-author publications in high-level international journals in related fields.
	Good teaching potential and communication skills, capable of teaching in English.
	Team spirit and ability to conduct research independently.


Preferred Qualifications:


	Experience with industrial field projects or familiarity with mainstream industrial software/systems (e.g., DCS, MES, APC).
	In-depth research in areas such as Reinforcement Learning, Large Language Models, Digital Twins, Predictive Maintenance.
	Overseas research experience or experience collaborating with industry.


CITIZENSHIP AND VISA REGULATIONS

Employment at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws, and must comply with the regulations of the provincial government. These regulations stipulate who is eligible for legal employment with regard to obtaining work permits and visas. Please be advised candidates over 65 may not be eligible for a work visa in the P.R. China.
