Are you an experienced clinician who wishes to diversify into education? Would you enjoy working remotely from home with travel included for variety?

Here at the School of Veterinary Medicine, we have successfully established a high-quality network of clinical practices to deliver a fully distributed model of workplace based clinical education. By extensively partnering with the profession, we have developed an authentic, relevant, and student-centred approach to clinical veterinary education.

Integral to this model are the Lecturers in Veterinary Clinical Practice (LVCPs), our team of clinical tutors who provide oversight of individual development and evaluation of final year students toward attainment of day-one competences and support practice-based trained clinical mentors in the delivery of our Intramural Rotation module (IMR). This is achieved through regular and frequent practice visits to meet with clinical mentors and through the provision of one-to-one feedback and coaching of students.   

The role

We have an opening for a part time (0.7 FTE) LVCP post with a companion animal bias. Experience working in farm, equine, or mixed practice would be beneficial as team members provide cross species cover when required.

In this role, you will provide pedagogical training to clinical mentors and will contribute to the quality assurance of IMR delivery. Acting as a key university liaison for the partner practices, you will be expected to develop strong working relationships with practice staff.

You will act as a personal tutor for students in 4th and 5th year (an important role in pastoral care of the students as they transition through the clinical years) and will play a key role in the assessment of final year students.

Please note that there will be a requirement for significant travel to practices to support students, and a requirement to come to Guildford for a period of induction and subsequently for a minimum of 7 weeks a year, however travel costs are covered by the university.

This role supports flexible working and includes a generous pension and holiday allowance.

About you

The successful appointee will be a UK registered (or eligible to register) veterinary surgeon and will be an experienced companion animal clinician.

You will have a flair for communicating with both undergraduates and practitioners, be an excellent team player, and will have a passion for veterinary clinical education. Prior academic experience is not a prerequisite, but some teaching or clinical coaching experience is beneficial. Comprehensive educational training is provided during the induction process (including completion of Graduate Certificate in Higher Education).

Due to the nature of the role and the geographical locale of our partner practices, this post would ideally suit someone based near Guildford.

Induction Commitment

It is recognised that all new starters onto the team need a good induction into the department to ensure they are aware of the curriculum, teaching of lower years and school governance. To help with this, all new starters have an induction process that begins with a weeklong departmental induction which will require them to be on site. This induction process will take 5 days regardless of FTE.

The Department of Marine Technology at NTNU has a vacancy for a full-time position as a PhD Candidate. The goal is to complete a doctoral education while working on a collaborative research project together with SINTEF Ocean and Norwegian industrial partners.

Your supervisor is Professor Sverre Steen at the Department of Marine Technology, NTNU.

Your immediate leader is head of department.

Duties of the position

A PhD position has two primary goals. For one, you will learn how to do scientific research of high international standards, which shall lead to the award of a PhD degree. Second, you will produce results for the project you are working on.

Tasks include the following:


	Take courses in the relevant technical topics for the project, comprising a minimum of 30 credits. This can include classes in hydrodynamics, ship propulsion, optimization, artificial intelligence, machine learning or similar topics.
	Practice scientific communication by writing articles and attending conferences with other scientists and PhD candidates.
	As part of the project to which the position is connected: 
	
		Work on ship performance modelling, using a combination of conventional methods for prediction of required propulsion power and motions in waves and develop and test new data-driven methods using artificial intelligence and machine learning tools. 
		
		Use of in-service data from the case ships of the project for use in the data-driven approaches mentioned above.
		
	
	


Required selection criteria


	Professionally relevant background in marine technology, naval architecture, computer science, physics or applied mathematics.
	Education must correspond to a five-year Norwegian degree program, where 120 credits are obtained at master's level.
	Strong academic background from your previous studies and an average grade from the master's degree program, or equivalent education, which is equal to B or better compared with NTNU's grading scale. If you do not have letter grades from previous studies, you must have an equally good academic basis. If you have a weaker grade background, you may be assessed if you can document that you are particularly suitable for a PhD education.
	Master's students can apply, but the master's degree must be obtained and documented by before starting the position.

	Very good written and oral English language skills.

Salary and conditions

As a PhD candidate (code 1017) you are normally paid from gross NOK 532 200 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

The period of employment is 3 years.

Appointment to a PhD position requires that you are admitted to the PhD programme in Engineering within three months of employment, and that you participate in an organized PhD programme during the employment period.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. The Finnish Museum of Natural History (Luomus) invites applications for a five-year position as Curator of Vascular Plants

The role will commence no earlier than 1 Feb 2025, with the start date negotiable. The selected candidate will join the Vascular Plants Team within the Botany and Mycology Unit at Luomus, contributing significantly to the institution's research programs. After the initial five-year period has ended, there is a possibility the position may become permanent.

The Vascular Plants Team is tasked with managing herbarium collections of vascular plants and algae, which include approximately 1.8 million specimens. The team also oversees living plant collections and a seed bank for endangered species and is involved in updating databases and participating in the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility. The team consists of twelve permanent employees, including five academic positions.

About the position 

We are seeking a dedicated Plant Systematist, Taxonomist, or Conservation Biologist to undertake high-quality, collection-based research on vascular plants in close collaboration with the rest of the team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of scientific methodologies, such as museomics, and herbarium techniques, with the capability to conduct independent research.

Responsibilities include:


	Joint curation of the vascular plant herbarium alongside the senior curator and other herbarium staff
	Enhancing the collection management system and the curation of living collections at the Kaisaniemi and Kumpula Botanic Gardens
	Teaching university courses on Bachelor level (up to 5% of work time) and supervising MSc and PhD students
	Actively seeking external funding, leading a research group, and supervising its members
	Engaging in international collaborations and community outreach related to the field.


Qualifications

The applicant must hold a doctoral degree, demonstrate experience in scientific research, and possess necessary teaching skills. Leadership abilities and experience in acquiring external research funding are essential. Experience with scientific collections, development of collection infrastructure, and university teaching are highly valued. Proficiency in Finnish and English is required, however, allowances regarding language proficiency are made for international applicants.

What do we offer?

This fixed-term position includes a 6-month trial period. The salary is based on level 6-7 of the Finnish universities' salary scheme for teaching and research personnel. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. Thus, the gross monthly salary will range from €4,100 to €5,050, depending on the appointee´s qualifications and experience. 

In addition to the research and infrastructure funding possibilities offered by the national and international sources, Luomus also has occasionally had funding available for networking and small starter grants for research (i.e., trigger/seed funding).

About Luomus

The Finnish Museum of Natural History Luomus is an independent institute of the University of Helsinki and the national museum in the field of natural history in Finland. The duties of Luomus are to amass, maintain and display its collections, and to conduct related research in biology, geology and natural sciences including isotopic/chronological studies. The collections serve research, teaching, and public education, and form part of the international network of natural history repositories. LUOMUS has five units: Botany and Mycology, Zoology, Earth Sciences, Biodiversity Informatics, and Public Engagement. Job Description 

At Aalto University, we aim to be the main provider of manufacturing engineering specialists and leaders for Finnish industry. This assistant professor (tenure track) position will be part of the Materials to Products (M2P) research group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Materials to Products (M2P) Research Group

The position will be filled in the Materials and Manufacturing to Products (or simply, Materials to Products, M2P) research group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Our expertise in research and higher education at Manufacturing includes the following main topics: modelling and optimisation of production systems; casting and welding technology; additive manufacturing technology and applications; digital production; non-destructive testing and safety; modelling of materials and applications; hydrogen effect on metals; and measurements by digital image correlation.  Additionally, we do have a large workshop area for research and education.

You will define the creative direction for the Charles Sturt University brand - delivering innovative and cutting-edge campaigns, along with branded collateral that resonates with the university's target audience and aligns with strategic direction. In addition, you will oversee the coordination of professional teams by prioritising and managing workloads. You will also be responsible for maintaining and nurturing key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The Division of Customer Experience develops and delivers Charles Sturts marketing, student recruitment, events and admissions activities, and oversees the customer journey from awareness to enrolment.

The Customer Experience teams work closely with the Division of Student Experience to ensure the end-to-end journey from customer to student is seamless, impactful and leaves a lasting positive impression.

The Division also supports the customer journey by establishing and connecting Research partners, business development partners and other key stakeholders with the Charles Sturt brand. The Division is key to placing customers at the centre of everything we do.
