The Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná is a major university in Brazil. It is known in Portuguese as the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, or PUCPR. The students of PUCPR have the opportunity to attend its four Campuses: Curitiba, Londrina, Toledo, and the international hub in Florence, Italy, commonly shared with Kent State, Webster, and Dankook University. There are six academic schools at PUCPR: Business, Law, Medicine and Life Sciences, Education and Humanities, Fine Arts, and Polytechnic School. Students have the opportunity to spend one or two semesters abroad, studying at one of 280 PUCPR’s partner universities. PUCPR is the lead scientific researcher in Paraná, producing a high proportion of all scientific publications in the state. The university has heavily invested in research and has viewed it as a priority over recent years. Hotmilk Innovation ecosystem, as the university innovation hub, explores agribusiness and educational technology. As a Catholic institution, PUCPR sees research as part of the human quest for truth. The university is guided by the words of Saint Marcellin Champagnat: “No one can educate a student without loving them.” The main Campus in Curitiba houses the university’s Center for Cultural Affairs. The centre is responsible for enriching student life on Campus and energy around the state of Paraná through dance, music, art, and festivals. A sports complex on Campus has five sports courts for volleyball, futsal, basketball, tennis, and squash, a 2,500-person gymnasium, and an Olympic swimming pool.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. and M.B.B.S or M.D. degree and be highly motivated in teaching and learning, with demonstrated experience and excellence in the teaching of physiology discipline for medical, nursing, pharmacy, and biomedical sciences undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Applicants should also have strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as a team, and be able to multi-task. Experience in teaching anatomy, biochemistry, or digital education in medicine is a plus. The position offered depends on level of expertise and years of teaching experience – at least 10 years for Senior Lecturer and 3 years for Lecturer. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Lecturer. The appointee will be responsible for teaching, conducting tutorials and demonstrations, supporting curriculum design, and developing teaching materials, etc. He/She will work closely with a team of colleagues dedicated to the development and delivery of innovative pedagogical approaches to improve student learning across several undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Senior Lecturer and Lecturer, and 10% of basic salary for Assistant Lecturer. The role We are seeking to appoint a motivated and rigorous professional, who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the MicroStructures Study Unit (MSSU) Laboratory. The post holder will participate in the experimental research activities of staff and students and will communicate effectively with different lab users. The job involves the preparation of test samples using conventional and rapid prototyping techniques, undertaking testing using advanced testing protocols, as well as installing arrangements specific for different testing configurations. The postholder will be required to support experimental projects at all academic levels, as circumstances dictate and as requested by their line manager. They will be responsible for maintaining the testing equipment in excellent working conditions and for the professional upkeep of the laboratory spaces. They will work closely with other technical staff to ensure the safe and efficient running of laboratories, and to showcase the experimental activities of Mechanical Engineering Sciences in relation to student applicants and external sponsors/clients. About you The post holder will maintain the MSSU Laboratory and set up and run laboratory tests. They will have good communication and IT skills. A qualification in Materials Engineering, or similar discipline, is desirable. Some relevant work experience in the above fields related to optical or electron would be an advantage.
