Post duration: 4 years full-time or up to 6 years part-time Salary: AMNL £46,675 to £80,081 (for those below ST3 on 3 August 2016); CADT £65,048 to £73,992 (for those at or above ST3 on 3 August 2016), The Faculty of Medicine wishes to appoint an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, hosted by one of the following clinical specialties: Clinical Genetics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology or General Surgery. The post is intended for an applicant within any of these three specialities, with the speciality of the final (single) post dependent on the successful applicant. The post-holder will be pursuing their development of research and teaching within either the Human Development and Health school or Cancer Sciences school of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton.  In this post-doctoral role, the successful candidate will be in specialist clinical training at ST3 level or above and have substantial experience of the relevant research areas, a proven track record of high-quality original research publications, the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary, multi-professional team and hold a corresponding NTN. You will join the NIHR Clinical Integrated Academic Training Programme at the University of Southampton, as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer. The post-holder will also have clinical commitments at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust that will lead to the acquisition of clinical skills required for full registration within the specialty. About the Role We are looking for a full-time postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a high-profile project funded under the BBSRC’s Prosperity Partnership programme, a collaboration between Cranfield University, LIPTON Teas and Infusions, Browns East Africa Plantations and the UK Tea and Infusion Association. The project seeks to improve the sustainability of tea production through elucidating the mechanisms that enhance soil function and soil health in plantations, and by advancing molecular breeding approaches in a long-standing tea breeding programme. The role will be to lead analysis of soil microbiome data, and to carry out plant genetic analysis (genomic selection and identification of quantitative trait loci and candidate genes), working alongside two other Research Fellows specialising in agronomy and remote sensing. The project team also includes eight academic staff, three PhD students, and expert industry Research & Development teams based in Kenya and The Netherlands. The role involves delivering some training in analysis methods to other members of the wider project team. About You You will be educated to doctoral level and have a track record in processing and interpreting Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and genomic data. Experience with shell scripting (Bash), and at least one high-level programming language (Python or R) is essential. A sound knowledge of soil microbiology and/or plant genomics, and an interest in sustainable agriculture, would be advantageous. Lecturer (Fashion Business) The School of Fashion resides in the Faculty of Design and offers a Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion programme and two distinct fashion degree programmes in BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles and BA (Hons) Fashion Media and Industries. The School is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking fashion lecturer to teach at the intersection of design, business strategy and creative direction in fashion. The ideal candidate will bring substantial industry experience within the fashion system, alongside a strong pedagogical approach that integrates critical thinking, creative practice and commercial awareness. This role requires an educator who understands fashion not only as a creative discipline, but as a cultural and economic system, and who can guide students in navigating the full life cycle of fashion, from concept and design to product development, branding and market positioning. The successful candidate should demonstrate expertise and the ability to teach across a combination of the following areas: Design and creative practice: Visual identity, branding and art direction. Creative business integration: Design-led innovation, business thinking, and translating concepts to market across brand, product and experience. Fashion business strategy and management: Brand development, fashion marketing, communication and digital platforms, fashion management and product development, entrepreneurship and start-up models, supply chain and production systems, as well as sustainability and ethical business models. As lecturer, your key responsibilities include academic preparation, teaching and the delivery of specialised knowledge and skills, as well as cognitive-based content, to ensure students’ learning objectives are met. You will work collaboratively with teams within/across programmes and the Faculty to enhance the strategic and organisational plans and ensure that the programme achieves its strategic ambitions and objectives. Other responsibilities include coordinating academic learning activities, academic administration and organisation, providing feedback on assignments, conducting assessments and marking, and student mentoring and recruitment. You will also contribute to the academic development of the programme, work as part of a team, and be involved in specific programme activities, projects, exhibitions and other cross-faculty initiatives. Requirements: Postgraduate qualification, preferably at PhD level, or equivalent in a relevant discipline. At least five years of tertiary-level teaching experience with knowledge of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Framework and at least three years of full-time relevant professional practice. For Senior Lecturer, at least nine years and above or the equivalent of postgraduate teaching experience in practice-based arts at tertiary level and six years of proven track record of professional experience in related design fields and/or tertiary design education with a PhD qualification. Substantive professional practice in the areas of visual identity, branding, and art direction, creative direction as strategic practice, translating concept to market: brand, product, and experience, fashion marketing, communication and/or related fields of design. Description The Center of Astrophysics and Space Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work with the Mars Research Group to support scientific investigations of the Martian atmosphere and surface using data from the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) “Hope” probe. The position contributes to ongoing research, data analysis, simulation efforts, and dissemination of scientific results from Hope observations. The funding for this position is provided by the UAE Space Agency. The successful applicant will; Analyze Emirates Mars Mission (Hope) data: Conduct detailed analysis of atmospheric and surface observations collected by the UAE’s Hope probe to support scientific goals of understanding Martian atmospheric and surface processes. Assist with analysis of additional Mars mission datasets: Examine and interpret complementary data from other Mars missions to strengthen current models and provide comparative insights that enhance research conclusions from Hope observations. Develop Machine Learning methods and run numerical simulations on NYUAD’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) system. Support preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations: Assist in drafting reports, papers, and conference materials to communicate research findings to the global scientific community. A candidate with a Master’s degree is preferred; however, the minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in physics, computer science, or a related discipline. The role requires strong programming skills in Python, competency in data analysis and scientific computing, and the ability to work with large datasets. The project seeks to promote lifelong learning by revolutionizing traditional teaching methods and providing innovative tools for interactive and distance learning. Key Responsibilities: Research Conduct research and development on the Augmented Smart Classroom (SmartClass) platform, focusing on data collection, analytics, and real-time classroom monitoring. Design and implement machine learning models to analyze multimodal data (e.g., student behavior, engagement, and performance) to enhance personalized learning. Develop and evaluate GPT-powered AI tutor systems, integrating insights from classroom data to deliver individualized learning experiences.
