Description The Economics Program in the Division of Social Science Division at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is inviting applications from economists with outstanding research records. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields from a recognized University. Major in Information Security will be advantageous. Professional or industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA), Juniper (JNCIA), Huawei (HCNA), Aruba (ACA), or equivalent will be an added advantage. Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of industry experience as a software engineer or network engineer with strong technical expertise and hands-on experience. Proficiency in software development principles, including Object-Oriented Design, Microservices, API integration, and full software development lifecycles. Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, Java (preferred but not limited to). Hands-on experience in enterprise networking, including LAN/WAN design and operations with protocols and technologies such as VLAN, OSPF, ACL, VRF lite, VRRP, VPN, and link aggregation. Familiarity with software for networking devices/functions (routers, switches, firewalls) or network automation / SDN. Understanding of software repository management and/or change management processes for network/software version control. Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, or guide students in applied projects or research initiatives. Soft Skills & Mindset Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and a passion for continuous learning. Ability to work closely with students and researchers to design, implement, and evaluate applied projects. The Department of Engineering at King’s is located on the Strand Campus of King’s College London where the post will be based. About the role A one-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at the Robot Perception Lab led by Dr Shan Luo at the Department of Engineering, King’s College London. You will work on a project on robot manipulation with vision and tactile sensing. The research will be conducted in collaboration with colleagues from King’s College London, international collaborators at MIT, TUM and industrial partners of the project. The main objective of the project is to develop the next generation of dexterous robots that can perform contact-rich manipulation tasks in daily life and manufacturing environments.
