About Perdana University

Basic information and contact details for Perdana University

Perdana University is a private university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was established in 2011 as a project under Malaysia’s Public-Private Partnership Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department, as part of the country’s wider strategy to strengthen Malaysia as an international education hub. During PU’s early development, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad served as chancellor and helped shape the university’s identity.

The university is based in Damansara Heights, a suburb to the west of Kuala Lumpur’s city centre. The campus is within walking distance of Semantan MRT Station, placing students within easy reach of Kuala Lumpur’s bustling centre. PU provides both on-campus accommodation and transport services, alongside facilities including a student lounge, gym and game room.

Academically, the university offers education from foundation studies through to doctoral and postdoctoral levels. Its four faculties are medicine and health sciences, applied science and technology, business, economics and finance, and liberal arts, humanities and culture. Programmes include medicine, occupational therapy, public health, psychology, TESL, business, accounting, information technology, computer science, bioinformatics, applied artificial intelligence and logistics and supply chain management.

Medical education is an important part of PU’s identity, reflecting its founding as a university with a strong focus on medicine and health sciences. Its doctor of medicine (MD) is a four-year graduate-entry programme. The programme follows a US-style curriculum and includes preparation for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), while providing clinical exposure across primary care, tertiary care, palliative care and public health settings.
