About Penn State Behrend

Penn State Behrend, is part of the commonwealth campus of Pennsylvania State University, and is located in Erie, Pennsylvania. 

Students can choose between 35 bachelor degrees, three pre-professional programmes, four master's degrees, four associate degrees, and a number of continuing education programmes. Like other campuses within the Penn State commonwealth, students can begin their undergraduate degree at Penn State Behrend and then, after two years of study, transfer to the University Park Campus – the main campus of Pennsylvania State University – to complete their degree.

There are a variety of courses on offer to students, which include: business economics, chemistry, finance, electrical engineering, political science, software engineering, and environmental science. 

On campus there is a 200-acre Knowledge Park which is there for research and development purposes. The park enables organisations to take advantage of the college's intellectual and physical resources. 

Recently, the campus has undergone extensive regeneration and there have been a number of facilities added. These include an athletic and recreation centre, chapel and carillon, an astronomy observatory, a planetarium and large residence halls.

There are a plethora of clubs and organisations on campus for students to participate in, which include: the Lion Entertainment Board (LEB), the Student Government Association (SGA), the Interfraternity Council (IFC), and the Multi-Cultural Council (MCC).

The MCC promotes a multi-cultural environment through a variety of events throughout the years. They coordinate celebrations for events such as: Martin Luther King Week, Hispanic and Black History Month, and many more.

Moreover, there are weekly bands and comedians, which are brought to campus for entertainment. In the pasts, bands have included the Goo Goo Dolls, Shaggy, The Clarks, Third Eye Blind, The All-American Rejects, and Big Sean with Chevy Woods. 

Nicknamed the Behrend Lions, athletic teams at Penn State Behrend compete in 11 varsity sports as a member of the NCAA Division III, Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference. Sports include athletics, baseball, basketball, golf, volleyball, water polo, swimming, wrestling, and track.
