Penn State Altoona is a commonwealth campus of The Pennsylvania State University, and it is located in Logan Township just outside of Altoona.

It is one of four full-fledged four-year institutions in the Commonwealth Campus network. While students can complete all four years at Penn State Altoona, students are also able to transfer to another Penn State location.

Some of the most popular courses on offer at the campus are: criminal justice, nursing, political science, psychology, security and risk analysis and integrative arts. 

Penn State Altoona offers students the chance to undertake internships, research programmes and study abroad programmes alongside their education to advance their skills and prepare them for the professional world. 

There are plenty of opportunities for students to get involved with clubs and organisations on campus, with over 75 on offer. This number includes five fraternities, and two sororities, alongside clubs like the Black Student Union, Christian Student Fellowship, and Psychology Club.

Alongside, there are also many planned events open for students to attend where speakers and musicians visit the university.

On campus housing is available for students during the academic year, which offer students easy access to campus and facilities such as desks, cable TV, a small microwave/refrigerator/freezer and a TV lounge to relax in.

Sports teams – nicknamed the Nittany Lions – at Penn State–Altoona participate as members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division III and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). Sports on offer include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, swimming & diving, soccer, tennis, volleyball, bowling, and swimming & diving.

The Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton is welcoming applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of advanced manufacturing and materials. The research will be conducted within the Computational Engineering & Design Group of the Department, on a fixed term - full time contract for a duration of 33 months. The role The role is an Innovation Action within a Horizon Europe funded research project coordinated by the University of Southampton that will deliver an Industry 5.0 AI-enabled digital framework that streamlines remanufacturing in the automotive sector. You will need to lead the methodological framework for remanufacturing in the automotive sector in collaboration with the consortium participants from 9 different countries. About you You will hold a PhD or equivalent and will already be demonstrating potential for research excellence in your postdoctoral activity. Senior Research Fellow in E-Textiles and Printed Electronics

We seek high calibre highly motivated post-doctoral researchers to join our electronic textiles research program. The positions are funded by the EU (European Union) project: SoftIE – Materials for Sustainable Soft Technologies of Interconnected E-textiles, tackling a fundamental challenge; the lack of a robust connection and interconnects. You will be based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) and be part of an EU project consortia developing new materials and processes to achieve sustainable interconnected e-textile systems. You will work in the Printed Electronics and Materials Laboratory and other facilities. Comprehensive training and support will be provided by experienced users, enabling you to develop the skills necessary for the role. Prior experience with the equipment is not essential. You will be invited to travel to project meetings and dissemination activities across the UK and EU. The role will also involve supporting junior research staff and contributing to the planning and delivery of group outreach activities. Reasonable adjustments will be made to support candidates for whom travel may present challenges. You will help lead a work package within the project and develop routes to commercialisation for the work as well as strategies for intellectual property protection and exploitation. The roles will involve research on the following topics. Novel printed copper ink formulations and other conductive materials. Novel sustainable adhesive materials. E-Textile device manufacturing, focusing on improving durability and reliability.  Design and assembly of E-Textile demonstrators.  To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate:  A PhD in an appropriate area related to one or more of the roles described above. Excellent experimental research skills with a strong publication track record in high-quality international journals Excellent communication and organisational skills, and a proven ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams. And a willingness to: Help with the supervision of PhD students. Contribute to commercialisation of these technologies. Contribute to group and project outreach activities.
