Pamukkale University is a public university located in Denizli, Turkey. Established in 1992, the university was formed through the merger of several higher education institutions in the region. Its name, "Pamukkale," is derived from the famous natural thermal spring terraces located nearby, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Faculties at the university include dentistry, education, science, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, law, economics and administrative sciences, divinity, communication, humanities and social sciences, architecture and design, engineering, music and performing arts, health, sport sciences, technical education, technology, medicine, tourism, applied sciences, agriculture, and the school of foreign languages.
The university also offers master’s programmes through the graduate schools of archaeology, educational sciences, natural and applied sciences, Islamic sciences, health sciences and social sciences.
Pamukkale University is home to several research centres and institutes. Some of the current research topics include alcohol and drug addiction, language teaching, sports science and botany.
The university offers various extracurricular activities, cultural events, and sports competitions.
Students also have access to the Martyr Ömer HALİSDEMİR Sports Application and Research Centre. Facilities include an Olympic swimming pool, fitness centre, steps and aerobics hall, tennis courts, a climbing wall, squash courts and spinning classes.
