Palawan State University

Palawan State University (PSU) is a public higher education institution in the Philippines. It was originally established in 1965 as Palawan Teacher’s College to address the shortage of trained teachers in the province. In 1994 the college was granted full university status.

The university is located in Puerto Princesa City, the capital of Palawan, with its main campus in Tiniguiban spanning approximately 68 hectares. It also operates an extensive network of campuses and satellite centres across the province, including sites in Coron, El Nido, Narra, and Brooke’s Point. Palawan’s reputation for biodiversity, coastal ecosystems, and ecotourism provides a distinctive environment for both academic study and research. 

The university’s main campus is comprised of eight colleges: College of Arts and Humanities, College of Business and Accountancy, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, College of Hospitality Management and Tourism, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of Sciences, College of Teacher Education, and the College of Criminal Justice Education. Within each college is a wide range of departments, offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. 

Research at PSU has a strong focus on environmental sustainability and resource management. Facilities such as the Marine Science Research Centre and other specialised labs support studies in marine biodiversity, coastal systems, and natural products, alongside emerging initiatives such as petroleum research.
