Palacký University Olomouc (UP) is the oldest university in Moravia and the second-oldest in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1573 as a public university led by the Jesuit Order in Olomouc. At first the university only taught theology but has since expanded to eight faculties including arts, law, medicine and dentistry, education, science, physical culture and health sciences. The faculty of health sciences is the youngest having been established in 2008. The faculties are housed in beautiful historical buildings in Olomouc. The university is investing in building new faculties and research buildings. UP Science and Technology Park aims to bridge the gap between the academic-scientific world and private business, to help the university's research projects work in collaboration with private companies. Special attention is paid to fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology and information technology. The University Press focuses especially on publishing the scientific and research activities of the university. It published worked which are considered too specialised for commercial publishers as well as publishing study books and professional journals. It is a highly specialized workplace on the issue of vascular diseases. The main activities are vascular-surgical programs. In cooperation with interventional radiologists and angiologists, the clinic provides comprehensive care for vascular patients, including 24-hour permanent service for acute vascular events within the region and supraregionally. As an accredited workplace, it provides undergraduate and postgraduate education in vascular surgery, is involved in scientific research activities and participates in the solution of international randomized multicenter studies. II. The surgical clinic is a part of the Complex Cardiovascular Center and the Cerebrovascular Center established by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The Department Head position candidate must be a respected expert in the field of surgery, with experience of working in a given area and with expertise in pre-graduate and postgraduate education. The Head of the department will be responsible for the management of the clinic, undergraduate medical education, doctoral studies, publishing and coordination of research conducted at the clinic. The Candidate for Department Head will present his/her idea of fulfilling the above during the selection process. About the Role: This role is a key foundational role to support the delivery of the University’s Mumbai Enterprise Campus (MEC), a flagship transnational education initiative of the University of Bristol set to open its doors in 2026, coinciding with the University’s 150th anniversary. The role will provide leadership to develop and structure the MEC’s educational offer and its two-way link with the University’s main campus in Bristol, reporting to and working closely with the MEC Executive Dean and Director, throughout the first three foundational years of the Campus establishment – with possibility of a contract renewal for an additional term thereafter. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to deliver an inspiring education, and transformative student experience, embedding new structures and ways of working across Mumbai and Bristol campuses. To do so, the role will have dotted lines reporting to University's Pro Vice Chancellor (Education and Students), and collaborating with relevant Associate PVCs (Faculty based and thematic), The will do so alongside an expected close partnership with the Faculty Pro Vice Chancellor in either Arts, Law and Social Sciences (ALSS) or Science and Engineering (S&E), to steward the development of a specific faculty-based MEC coordination function from year 2, depending on disciplinary background of the appointee. Key Responsibilities: 1. Educational Leadership, Culture, and Engagement Reporting to the Executive Dean. The key responsibilities will be as follow Provide leadership, operational and developmental capacity to the Executive Dean during a period of transformation within the MEC and the University, with an emphasis on Education and Students portfolio.
