Position Details Three-year contract I Full Time Academic Level B | $115,871 to $137,122 pa plus 17% superannuation View Position Description Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country About the Role The Lecturer in Research Training is a university-wide role within the Flinders University Research Training Hub, focused on delivering innovative, high-quality researcher education across career stages, from Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, through to senior researchers. This position designs and delivers inclusive, flexible research training that builds capability, strengthens research practice, and supports successful HDR pathways for diverse cohorts, including industry professionals, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, and international students. Working at the intersection of learning design, digital education and researcher development, you will contribute to research training that is practical, future-focused and responsive to evolving research and workforce needs. In this position, you will: Design, deliver and continuously improve innovative researcher training programs across HDR pathways and research career stages Develop engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences using contemporary online and blended delivery approaches Create and coordinate postgraduate research training topics and pathways that support diverse and non-traditional HDR cohorts Provide mentoring, guidance and capability development support to HDR students, researchers and external stakeholders Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of research training programs Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen researcher development and HDR engagement About You You are an experienced and innovative tertiary educator with a strong background in learning design, and research training or postgraduate education. The Department The Global Centre for Contextual Safeguarding (GCCS) launched in September 2025, building on the work of a decade-plus, world-leading, Contextual Safeguarding Programme. It is now part of Durham's Sociology Department, whose members, postgraduate researchers, and students collectively develop 'sociological imagination' and apply it to contemporary processes and issues. The Department was ranked 1st for Criminology in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, and ranked 4th for impact in REF 2021. The GCCS builds on this history- an interdisciplinary Centre based in Durham's Sociology Department with direct integration with Law, Business, Education and Psychology, it brings together departments across the four faculties of the University to: transform how societies understand and deliver services that safeguard young people beyond their homes; create systems that look beyond the capacity of parents to protect children; and build sustainable partnerships in which safeguarding is truly everybody's business. This is a Centre committed to a radical transformation in how safeguarding is conceptualised, studied, and practiced, and by whom. The Role To continue developing the Centre's capacity to enact this change, we are recruiting a number of roles this year -one of these is a part-time GCCS Research Assistant who will work in the GCCS under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team.The role will sit across multiple workstreams to provide support to centre operations and research projects, with particular attention to integrating and reflecting the voices of children and young people into our developing work programme. We are welcoming applicants with an in interest in social justice; we anticipate such applicants having varied academic and professional journeys, potentially holding, or be working towards, a Masters Degree s in Sociology or Social Research Methods. The postholder will be required to undertake support tasks including working with other RAs in scoping existing research, converting knowledge generated by staff across the GCCS into accessible and practical resources, supporting the team with a range of research and operational activities across multiple ongoing projects, and supporting bid development activities across the Centre. GCCS activities take place in multiple locations across the UK and beyond, so most team members work to a hybrid model, with research underway in various parts of the UK as well as via online data collection methods, and wider Centre activity taking place mostly online with occasional in-person meetings and working days. Travel to research sites and for impact and dissemination activities may be required, and travel for these activities is paid for by the Centre.The normal place of work is Durham, and you will be expected to be present in Durham for essential GCCS business as required (to be discussed with your line manager).

Description The Future-Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub (Future-GRID TecH) in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit one motivated post-doctoral associate (or research scientist for experienced candidates with 5 years of post-PhD experience). The candidate will work under the supervision of Future-GRID TecH director Dr. Mohamed Moustafa to carry out cutting-edge research in the broad area of future structures and resilient infrastructure systems with interest in applications of new and emerging technologies. Particular areas of interest include: structural 3D printing (metals, concrete, and composites) computational mechanics and structural topology optimization vision-based structural health monitoring autonomous and drone-based infrastructure inspection and vibration monitoring Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering. Other related field such as Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, and Material Science are also welcomed. Required qualifications include: strong communication and presentation skills; a track record in writing and publishing peer-reviewed journal publications; and previous or relevant experience in mentoring or supervising undergraduate student research or junior graduate students. A formal training, education, or certification in a secondary area (beyond the main PhD focus) such as additive manufacturing, advanced/hybrid manufacturing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics, UAVs, etc. is a plus. Other preferred qualifications include: expertise in programming and coding (preferably using Python and C++) and GUI development; expertise in computational mechanics and finite element simulation and modeling; expertise in laboratory and multi-scale experimental testing at the material, component, and structural levels. Starting date: 1st September 2026 Sodium-ion batteries are a growing technology and show promising potential for large scale applications. However, developing efficient positive electrode materials is a key factor in advancing this technology and promoting its use in practical applications. NaSICON (Natrium Super Ionic CONductor) materials have a 3D structure allowing the fast diffusion of sodium during the electrochemical reaction of charge/ discharge as well as good structural and thermal stabilities. This project targets the synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical evaluation of P-based NaSICON-type materials as positive electrodes for sodium-ion batteries. We are looking for an assiduous, ambitious, and engaged Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong background in chemistry of materials, materials science, electrochemistry, materials synthesis and battery research. Key responsibilities: Synthesis of different P-based materials via the sol-gel and solvothermal methods with control over morphology, particle size, and composition. Material characterization using XRD, SEM, EDS, ICP, BET, TGA, FTIR, RAMAN spectroscopy, etc. Electrode preparation, battery assembly, and evaluation of the electrochemical properties versus metallic sodium using different testing techniques (GCPL, CV, GITT, EIS, etc.). Establishing relationships between the physical and chemical properties of P-based cathodes and their electrochemical performance in sodium-ion half-cell and full cell configurations. Performing advanced characterization using in-situ XRD, XPS, 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and NMR to investigate material behavior and interfacial chemistry during synthesis and battery operation. Develop mechanistic understanding of cathode operation and degradation, identify pathways to improve the performance and safety of advanced electrochemical cells. Analyzing and interpreting experimental data and communicating findings through manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, presentations at scientific conferences, internal reports, group meeting presentations.
