The Opportunity The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is seeking a Research Fellow in Language Learning to join a multidisciplinary research team based at the Westmead campus. This role is focused on advancing knowledge in language acquisition and learning through rigorous, ethically sound, and methodologically robust research. You will design and conduct original research studies using qualitative and quantitative approaches, develop and implement research protocols, and analyse complex datasets using appropriate statistical and analytical tools. Working closely with experienced researchers and academic staff, you will contribute to collaborative projects while also building your own independent research profile. The position also involves disseminating research outcomes through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and institutional forums. You will contribute to grant writing activities, support externally funded research initiatives, and mentor junior researchers, providing guidance on research design, methodology, and best practice within a supportive academic environment. What Success Looks Like: Designing and conducting original research in language learning using qualitative and quantitative methods. Developing ethical research protocols and managing research timelines and deliverables. Analysing and interpreting research data with methodological rigour. Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at academic forums. Contributing to grant applications and supporting collaborative research projects. Strong proficiency in data analysis and statistical or analytical research tools. Excellent academic writing skills, with evidence of publications or manuscripts in preparation. Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams while maintaining independent research initiatives. Strong organisational, project management, and mentoring skills. 1 x Full time, fixed term (3 years) position available to join the School of Computing Technologies - Cyber Security & Software Systems Discipline Salary Academic Level B ($115,303 - $136,925) + 17% super Based at the City campus, but may be required to travel to other University campuses About the Role We are seeking a Lecturer to contribute to the teaching and research activities within the Discipline of Cyber Security and Software Systems within their area of expertise. The role involves delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate, Masters, and Graduate Diploma programs, while maintaining and advancing scholarly, research, and/or professional capabilities. The successful candidate will actively engage with academic, industry, and professional communities to promote the program and build meaningful partnerships. Working collaboratively within a collegial teaching team, the Lecturer will keep colleagues and students informed of emerging developments in cyber security, cloud computing, cyber-physical systems, and software systems, and may also undertake course coordination responsibilities. This position is a backfill for a DECRA Fellow, with opportunities to collaborate on research focused on securing systems and addressing data privacy and security challenges in machine learning. About You To be successful for this position, you will have: Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in core areas of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and Cyber Security, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials. Ability to undertake course coordination role. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning. Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Cyber Security and Software Systems Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links. Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates. Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government. Demonstrated ability to work in team environments, to contribute to the development of positive work culture, and to embrace change to support innovation. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration. Qualifications Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field. The Role The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is seeking to appoint a motivated individual to join the Medical Programme Professional Service Team. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Administrative Officer and Medical Programme Manager to support them in delivering assessment and progression processes and for the School of Medicine’s Graduate Medicine programme. This role will focus on managing and implementing processes in relation to all aspects of student assessment and ensuring accurate records and data are managed and in line with University and GMC regulations. The postholder is expected to build a knowledge of the systems and processes involved in order to meet expectations for recording and tracking student progress. About You The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong technical and IT skills with a focus on reporting data and supporting the development of bespoke systems aimed at monitoring and recording student data. They should be a proactive individual, competent in the use of IT with an attitude open to change and working independently. The ability to work to a high level of accuracy is also essential. The role will require excellent interpersonal and organisational ability demonstrating adaptability and flexibility with regards to changing workloads and priorities. The role will involve working with a range of staff across the School of Medicine and wider university and to adapt and support a number of professional administrative activities involved in the BMBS Graduate Medicine programme. We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and responsible person, with the ability to work both as an effective team member and independently.
