The Open Christian University is a nondenominational Christian university that was established in 2019 by the founders of Open Christian Ministries. It was first registered in South Africa in July 2021 and in 2023 it was licensed to operate as a private post-secondary institution under religious exemption. Since then, the university has continued to offer ministerial education leading to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees using e-learning and blended learning across the globe. Academically, the school is organised into three schools: the school of ministry, the school of business theology, and the school of interdisciplinary studies. The school of ministry aims to respond to the current needs and questions of today’s world by equipping church leaders with interdisciplinary knowledge, professional field skills and meaningful spiritual lessons. The school of business theology specialises in preparing Christians for business and professional work, while the school of interdisciplinary studies collaborates with secular institutions to deliver secular programmes based on identified knowledge gaps and student leadership needs. Throughout the year the university publishes its research findings in the Open Journal of Business Theology.

The Department The Department of Physics at Durham University is one of the leading UK Physics departments with an outstanding reputation for excellence in teaching, research and employability of our students. Durham University hosts one of Europe's largest and most active research groups working in the fields of observational and theoretical extragalactic astronomy, cosmology, and instrumentation. We have access to all UK national observing facilities, including ESO, ALMA and ESA, and membership of the KMOS, NuSTAR, XRISM LOFAR, PAUS, MOONs and IXPE teams. The post is funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant project X-MAPS and will be supervised by Dr Adam Ingram, who will be moving to Durham University in June 2026. The successful candidate will join thriving research teams within the Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy (CEA) at Durham, which is a leading group in observational astrophysics with expertise in compact objects, active galactic nuclei, galaxies and large-scale structure. The role will contribute to the goals of the X-MAPS project, which aims to unify fast X-ray timing and X-ray polarimetry techniques to improve our understanding of black hole X-ray binaries and measure black hole fundamental properties. Specific research projects include training neural networks to act as fast drop-in replacements for advanced X-ray timing and polarisation models (e.g. the X-ray reverberation mapping code RELTRANS), and applying advanced Fourier timing techniques to search for rapid spectral and polarimetric variability in the X-ray signal from black hole X-ray binaries. We are therefore searching for candidates with experience in theoretical modelling of accreting black holes and/or in observational stochastic X-ray timing and polarimetric analysis.

The Faculty of Medicine wishes to appoint an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, hosted by one of the following clinical specialties: Public Health, Paediatrics or Ophthalmology. The post is intended for an applicant within any of these three specialities, with the speciality of the final (single) post dependent on the successful applicant. The post-holder will be pursuing their development of research and teaching within either the Primary Care, Population Science and Medical Education school, Human Development and Health school or Clinical and Experimental Sciences school of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton. In this post-doctoral role, the successful candidate will be in specialist clinical training at ST3 level or above and have substantial experience of the relevant research areas, a proven track record of high-quality original research publications, the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary, multi-professional team and hold a corresponding NTN. You will join the NIHR Clinical Integrated Academic Training Programme at the University of Southampton, as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer. The post-holder will also have clinical commitments at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust that will lead to the acquisition of clinical skills required for full registration within the specialty.
