O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv

Based in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy is a specialised public university founded in 1922. It focuses on training experts in urban economy, municipal services and infrastructure, with a broad curriculum covering housing management, transport systems, construction engineering, utilities (electricity, water, gas, heating, lighting), tourism, hotel management, environmental safety and more.

With approximately 12,000 students including over 500 international students from 49+ countries, the university offers a multicultural and diverse campus life. 

It comprises five academic and research institutes, one faculty, four education centres, and two colleges, along with postgraduate and doctoral study programmes. The campus spans 160,000 square metres with facilities: eight dormitories, a sports complex, a library housing nearly one million physical books plus extensive digital resources, a museum complex, and an IT centre for new technologies.

O.M. Beketov University has strong international links, engaging in EU projects such as Erasmus Mundus, Tempus and Erasmus+, and belongs to the International Association of Universities. This facilitates student and staff exchanges, joint research and international internships. 

The university offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees across numerous fields including architecture, town planning, environmental studies, economics, psychology, computer science, chemical technology, electrical engineering (including renewable energy), automation and robotics, mining and oil and gas technologies, hotel and catering management, and transport logistics.
