Ohio State University was established in 1870 as an agricultural and mechanical college, but with a wide-ranging curriculum that included English and ancient and foreign languages. This legacy has continued to the present day, with the university still offering a broad liberal arts education.
With just 24 students in its initial cohort in 1873, the public university is now one of America’s largest higher education institution. More than 50,000 students study across 15 colleges at its main 1,900-acre campus. Four buildings on campus are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Hale Hall (originally Enarson Hall), Hayes Hall, Ohio Stadium, and Orton Hall.
The university is renowned for its academic medical centre and cancer hospital and research centre. It also boasts more than 10 museums and galleries, a 60-acre arboretum and a four-acre park dedicated to cancer survivors with sculptures, a walkway and plaques. In 2013-14, the university’s total research expenditure topped $982 million.
Students can also benefit from culture in Columbus, which features a Center of Science and Industry, three historic theatres and a zoo, and hosts a wide range of festivals.
Ohio State University now has more than 500,000 living alumni. Notable former students include pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, businessman Les Wexner, actor Patricia Heaton and writer R. L. Stine.
The university has more than 1,000 student organisations; intercollegiate, club and recreational sports programmes; student media organisations and publications, fraternities and sororities; and three student governments. The university particularly excels in sports and alumni from Ohio State University have gone on to win 100 Olympic medals (46 gold, 35 silver, and 23 bronze).Rankings

Our School is part of The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, which has a ‘One Health’ ethos that promotes understanding of a ‘whole society’ approach to health and builds on our aims to develop truly interprofessional training. The role We are seeking motivated and collaborative individuals to join our team in delivering high-quality, reliable, and valid assessments within our undergraduate medical programme. We have three part-time 0.5 FTE posts available, each with a dedicated focus on Year 2, Year 3, or Year 4 of the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) course. Working closely with the relevant Year Lead and the Director of Assessment, successful candidates will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative formative and summative assessments, drawing on contemporary assessment theory and evidence-based methods, including knowledge tests, OSCEs, workplace-based assessments, and professional portfolios. The role includes involvement in the design and delivery of assessments across the programme. All postholders will contribute to teaching across a range of formats, including large and small group teaching, case-based learning, and clinical and communication skills sessions, as well as supporting student electives and progression. In addition, successful candidates will provide academic support through group and one-to-one engagement, contribute to standard setting, assessment design, and OSCE examining, and support admissions processes. There will also be opportunities to deputise for Year Leads and contribute to curriculum development, assessment governance, and quality assurance activities. These roles are integral to the continued success and development of the programme, reporting ultimately to the Dean of the Medical School. These roles will be offered at either Lecturer A or B level depending on your experience (see job profiles below for further details). The full-time equivalent salary for Lecturer A starts from £37,694 and Lecturer B starts from £47,389 (pro rata for 0.5 FTE). Job Purpose The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an academic research project funded by BCA. The project is in collaboration with IHL and an industry partner. where you will be part of the research team to develop and demonstrate Building-to-Grid Integration through Intelligent Optimization and Predictive Control at SIT’s Punggol campus. Under this job title, you will be required to establish a test bed in SIT’s Punggol campus building, benchmarking of current building energy performances, deployment of new sensors & hardware, and quantitative evaluation of energy savings. You will be required to coordinate with multiple internal and external parties for the successful deployment of technology, test-bedding, and energy performance evaluation. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Candidate will be required to establish test bed in SIT’s Punggol campus building, benchmarking of current building energy performances, deployment of new sensors, hardware, quantitative evaluation of energy savings, etc. Meeting the deliverables by deployment, demonstration, and experimental studies planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe to meet the deliverables.
