Odessa I.I.Mechnikov National University is one of the oldest universities in Ukraine. The university has faculties in biology; geology and geography; international relations, politology and sociology; economics and law; history and philosophy; journalism, advertising and publishing; mathematics, physics and information technologies; psychology and social work; romance and Germanic philology and chemistry. Although most of the programmes are taught in Ukrainian, there are a small number of master's and PhD programmes which are taught in English. These include programmes in management, biology, international relations, economics and physics. The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree programme includes areas of classical, modern and contemporary Chinese literature, Chinese language and linguistics, comparative literature and literary theories, as well as media, news and creative writing.
