North South University (NSU), the first private university in Bangladesh was established in 1992, with the vision to fill the vacuum of higher education in the private sector of Bangladesh. The dream, during its inception was to set up a world-class university as a centre of excellence in higher education. Today, NSU has evolved into an educational behemoth in the region, with over 22,000 undergraduate and graduate students. NSU is organized into four schools (School of Business and Economics, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Health and Life Sciences); offering 23 undergraduate programs, and 16 graduate programs; throughout the year in a tri-semester arrangement. The average cost of attending NSU as a student is also at par with other private universities in Bangladesh. Description The Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYUAD is looking to appoint new independent fellows working in one (or more) of the following center's research fields Extrasolar Planets Galactic Astrophysics (including compact objects) Extragalactic Astrophysics and Cosmology Astroparticle Physics (Dark Matter searches, gamma-ray spectroscopy, gravitational waves) The center currently consists of eight faculty members and more than 25 researchers and PhD students. The Center possesses the unique possibility to investigate fundamental questions in astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and planetary physics from several points of view, with the expertise of its members ranging from collecting and analyzing state-of-the-art data on the nature of the visible and invisible matter in the Universe, to detailed theoretical and numerical studies from planets to galaxies, and linking them together cohesively. We expect successful applicants to work towards improving the collaborations and connections among the different areas. We invite applicants to visit our website to learn more about current research projects at CASS. The center fellows will have access to a 70,000-core Infiniband Cluster (Jubail) dedicated to the science division, several GPU-based clusters at NYUAD, and other supercomputer facilities through the CASS network. NYUAD also has guaranteed observing time on the Green Bank Telescope, the Very Long Baseline Array, and Las Cumbres Observatory, and is a participant in SDSS-V. Applicants should have a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or a closely related field. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years with a likely extension to a total of three years. CASS fellows will have dedicated funds for traveling, computing, publications, etc. The preferred starting date is Fall of 2026. Applicants need to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, publication list, and a brief (ideally 2-3 pages) statement of research interests, transcript and three letters of recommendation. Applicants are strongly encouraged to outline in their research statement how they plan to help create connections between the different research areas of the CASS. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of Earth Observation, geospatial analytics, artificial intelligence, climate and sustainability science, aiming to develop predictive, decision-oriented, and operational frameworks for climate-resilient and sustainable territories. Position Title: Postdoctoral Researcher – non-conventional phosphates beneficiation. Duration: 12 months. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled postdoctoral researcher to join a multidisciplinary research project dedicated to the sustainable valorization of non-conventional phosphates (including phosphates sludges) and the development of beneficiation processes (classification, grinding and flotation or others). The successful candidate will lead research efforts to evaluate the feasibility of upgrading non-conventional phosphates by flotation or other techniques. This work will involve mineralogical and chemical characterization, process testing at laboratory scale, and techno-economic evaluation of developed routes. The project contributes to Morocco’s strategic objectives in resource valorization, environmental sustainability, and circular economy, in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners. Area of Research: Sustainable mineral processing, with emphasis on phosphates beneficiation and process optimization. Main responsibilities: Conduct literature review on phosphate ore and waste processing and valorization; Operate and maintain mineral processing and analytical instruments; Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments for beneficiation (flotation, and others); Assess process parameters to optimize recovery and product quality; Evaluate potential valorization routes for process by-products and residues; Analyze, interpret, and synthesize experimental data to support process development; Contribute to the economic and environmental assessment of developed processes; Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, publications, and technical notes. Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and students on project activities. Participate in regular project reviews and research meetings. Collaborate with internal teams, partner laboratories, and industrial stakeholders. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT collaborates closely with industry partners in our research pursuits. Our research staff can gain practical research skills that are directly relevant to industry needs while working on projects at SIT. The main responsibility of this position is to deliver on an industry innovation research project. The Research Fellow/Engineer will be a key member of the research team focused on developing a framework for soil conditioning in Singapore soils through a series of experimental investigations. Additionally, they will work on delivering a novel Screw Conveyor Extraction Test (SCET) equipment, crucial for accurately assessing the effectiveness of soil conditioning in tunneling processes. The proposed framework and equipment will be validated at an active tunneling site. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Execute all experiments (e.g. foam stability test, slump test etc.) reliably. Liaise with the industry partner and agency to plan and execute the field trials. Develop the framework for effective soil conditioning in local soils. Design the SCET equipment and liaise with vendors in its manufacture and assembly. Validate the framework and SCET using findings from field tests. Mentor and provide technical guidance to student assistants involved in the research project. Carry out Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of the equipment. To liaise with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of geotechnical experimental investigations and soil conditioning used in tunnelling. Prior experience in basic soil characterization and knowledge in basic soil mechanics is required. Have a degree in civil engineering. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous Knowledge of physical modelling will be advantageous.
