The Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki is seeking a University Lecturer for a fixed-term position from September 1, 2026, to August 30, 2028, who can teach public law, particularly international law. The responsibilities of the University Lecturer in Law include providing undergraduate education as well as supervising and examining theses in the Bachelor of Laws program and in one or more of the faculty's Master’s programs. The University Lecturer will conduct independent scientific research and manage jointly agreed administrative and other tasks. Teaching responsibilities also include instruction under the Open University brand. The place of employment for University Lecturers is Helsinki, but the position also involves teaching duties at the faculty's education unit in Vaasa. The role is teaching-oriented. Requirements for the Position and Evaluation of Qualifications Candidates must hold a relevant doctoral degree in accordance with the University of Helsinki's regulations and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality research-based teaching and supervise theses. The University Lecturer must have good teaching skills. The language of instruction for the position is English. When assessing candidates' qualifications, both scientific and teaching merits will be considered. Scientific merits include scientific publications and other research results of scientific value. Teaching merits will take into account teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to produce learning materials, other achievements in teaching, and, if necessary, a teaching demonstration. The salary for the position is based on the university's salary system for teaching and research personnel, at levels 5-6 (-7). Additionally, a performance-based salary component will be paid. The gross salary for the position will be approximately €42,000–56,000 per year, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. The position will be subject to a 6-month probationary period. DC2: Sub-terahertz and terahertz reconfigurable intelligent surfaces Main supervisor:  Prof. Viktar Asadchy[AALTO] Co-supervisors/mentors:  Dr. Victoria Tormo [INDRA] and Dr. Barthès [3DEUS] Objectives To establish an analytical modeling approach for multilayer tunable metasurfaces that captures the key electromagnetic coupling effects between layers and enables fast prediction of their tunable response without relying solely on full-wave simulations. To create efficient adjoint-based optimization methods for tunable metasurfaces that provide rapid sensitivity/gradient evaluation, support high-dimensional design spaces, and allow systematic optimization of performance targets such as efficiency, bandwidth, and multi-condition operation. To design and fabricate reconfigurable metasurface prototypes that implement a global tuning mechanism, and to experimentally characterize their electromagnetic performance. To validate the achieved tuning range and functional performance in laboratory measurements against modeling and simulation results. This position is part of the MetaTune Doctoral Network "Reconfigurability using inversely designed metasurfaces", which has been funded under the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) program. Acquire knowledge During the thesis, the candidate will acquire a solid understanding of the theoretical and practical requirements for designing tunable and reconfigurable metasurfaces, with emphasis on multilayer architectures and system-level performance metrics (efficiency, bandwidth, angular response, and robustness). In parallel, the candidate will gain in-depth knowledge of analytical modeling techniques and adjoint-based optimization methods for high-dimensional inverse design, as well as develop practical expertise in prototyping and laboratory characterization. The SIT Centre for Intelligent Robotics is a strategic capability centre under RoboPrecinct@Punggol Digital District (PDD), responsible for developing and maintaining the core applied robotics and embodied AI capabilities required for precinct-level deployment of robotic systems. The centre is seeking a Robotics Engineer. This role is application-driven and system-oriented, focusing on the implementation, adaptation, and evaluation of state-of-the-art robotics algorithms on real robotic platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with physical robots and simulation environments to translate recent advances in learning-based robotics into robust, deployable systems. Key Responsibilities Implement, adapt, and evaluate state-of-the-art learning-based methods for robotic perception, decision-making, navigation, and manipulation. Apply reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and other skill learning frameworks to practical robotic applications. Integrate learning-based robot skills with full robot software stacks in ROS / ROS 2 environments. Develop and maintain perception and state representation pipelines using RGB-D and 3D sensing. Conduct simulation-to-real (Sim2Real) workflows, including data collection, model training, deployment, and testing on physical robots. Support system-level experimentation, benchmarking, and iterative improvement of embodied AI applications. Provide mentorship to undergraduate students in projects. Carry out risk assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and implementation guides to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability. Contribute to publications and technical notes to disseminate research outcomes. The employee is to communicate with any internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Working knowledge of reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or learning-based control concepts. Familiarity with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Lab, or MuJoCo. Practical experience with ROS or ROS 2 for real-robot software integration. Proficiency in Python and C++, with experience developing and maintaining production-level code. At least 2 years of experience in robotics research or industry projects. Preferred Skillsets (Advantageous) Experience working with mobile manipulators, humanoid robots, or quadruped robots. Exposure to motion planning, control frameworks, or whole-body control systems. Experience with real-world robot experimentation and deployment. Experience with embodied AI and robot manipulation benchmarking platforms such as LIBERO, ManiSkill, or RLBench is highly desirable. Knowledge of GPU architectures, GPU cloud computing services, and strong familiarity with Linux operating systems.
