Full time, fixed term for 12 months (with the possibility of extension), located on the Camperdown Campus Opportunity to advance impactful research that influences global food and health policy Base Salary Academic Level B $127,436 - $151,328 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Life and Environmental Sciences is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Quantitative Analysis of Economic Impacts of Ultra-Processed Foods to lead quantitative research on the economic impacts of ultra-processed foods, managing and analyzing large, complex datasets to generate robust, policy relevant insights that advance the University's research agenda. Your key responsibilities will be to: conduct original research independently or as part of a team, focusing on quantitative analysis of economic impacts of ultra processed foods bring and maintain a research profile including (as appropriate) publication of book chapters/ peer-reviewed journal articles, producing conference/ seminar papers either independently or as part of a team (within the University or externally) maintain quality, standards and excellence in research activities and output contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled; understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda contribute expertise and knowledge through communication with industry, forums of public debate, organisation of public events, seminars, and conferences undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Quantitative Analysis of Economic Impacts of Ultra-Processed Foods who has: PhD in Economics, Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science, Environmental Science (with a quantitative focus) or related fields strong experience in large-scale data processing and management, including working with high-dimensional, multi-country or time-series datasets sound programming skills, with a strong preference for MATLAB; experience in other scientific programming languages (e.g. Python, R) is also valued familiarity with international macroeconomic and trade data sources, such as UN Comtrade, UN Official Country National Accounts, or comparable global statistical databases, including data cleaning, harmonisation, and interpretation a demonstrated ability to work independently on technically demanding data tasks, with attention to reproducibility, documentation, and analytical robustness proven experience supervising and mentoring others. Desirable (but not essential): prior experience or demonstrated interest in economic input-output analysis, including multi-regional input-output (MRIO) frameworks or supply-chain modelling prior experience in research associated with food. Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES OFFICE OF THE DEAN OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES Project Assistant (23241242) The Faculty is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Assistant to provide support in research administrative activities. Reporting to the Faculty Research Senior Manager, the qualified candidate will contribute to the delivery of faculty-led initiatives and ensure the smooth flow of projects, data accuracy, and timely deliverables. Responsibilities: Research Administration Support Assist with research data collection, processing, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance; Provide guidance to departments on research-related administrative matters; and Prepare reports, funding application, and analyses as required. Postgraduate Research Support Support administrative processes for Research Postgraduate (RPg) programmes, including student enquires, document preparation, and data management; and Collaborate with academic units to ensure alignment with institutional guidelines and deadlines.  Research Events and Outreach Coordination Assist in planning and organising faculty research events, workshops, and conferences; Liaise with and maintain clear communication with internal and external research reviewers, guest speakers, and collaborators; Monitor ongoing projects to ensure timely completion and deliverables; and Perform other duties as assigned. About the Technology Transfer Specialist role ISL is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Technology Transfer Specialist to join the ISL team. Working under the direction of the Managing Director of ISL, you will help identify, protect, and commercialise University intellectual property (IP), with a focus on maximising licensing and spinout opportunities. Working closely with researchers and the wider ISL team, you will help identify high‑potential intellectual property, shape commercialisation strategies, and support licensing and spin‑out activity that delivers real‑world impact. Key responsibilities include: Contributing to the identification and evaluation of new IP generated through University research. Managing a suitable portfolio of technology transfer projects at various stages of their lifecycle. Coordinating with external legal and patent professionals to manage IP protection, including patent filings. Developing detailed commercialisation plans and supporting applications for translational funding. Leading the development of spinout business plans and financial projections. Supporting the negotiation and completion of licence agreements and spinout formation documentation. About you You will be curious, analytical and confident, with the ability to understand complex technologies and articulate their commercial, societal and market potential. The successful candidate will bring experience in technology transfer, commercialisation, innovation management or a related research‑driven environment, alongside an understanding of IP protection, market assessment and commercial deal‑making. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects, developing business plans and financial forecasts, and contributing to negotiations and legal agreements. Equally important are excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement and a collaborative, empathetic approach when working with academic inventors and external partners. A relevant degree (and ideally postgraduate qualification) in a science, engineering, Createch or innovation‑facing discipline, combined with strong commercial awareness and a proactive mindset, will enable you to succeed in this role and grow your career within a dynamic, impact‑focused innovation ecosystem. You will need: A relevant postgraduate qualification (Science, Engineering, Createch, or similar) or substantial equivalent vocational management experience. Experience in technology transfer within a research or commercial environment. Expertise in IP protection, patenting, and managing IP portfolios. Experience negotiating complex commercial and legal agreements. Strong commercialisation and market evaluation skills together with the ability to develop business plans and financial forecasts for spinouts and startups.
