Applicants should have a high level of writing proficiency in English and demonstrated ability in writing up research findings for both academic and general audiences, and be self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently and within a team. The appointee will work on various projects related to children’s and adolescents’ mathematics and science learning. Duties include literature review, development of assessment materials, liaise with external parties, supervision of research staff and research interns, data processing and analysis, preparation of manuscripts and reports, development of new research initiatives, and other research-related duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Description We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics with fields of research in Macroeconomics or Computational Social Science. The appointment is for 2 years and will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and visa acquisition by the prospective postdoc candidate. The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professors Alaïs Martin-Baillon, Jordan Norris, and Samreen Malik. The collaborative research will be on macroeconomic expectations, with a focus on firms and the role of networks. An ideal candidate may have experience with surveys and have expertise in computational economics. The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. Understanding of the principles of effective assessment design, using formative assessment to improve student performance, and familiarity with international summative assessment standards. Capacity to establish a rapport with students, and the effective communication and interpersonal skills need to engage with students, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders. Familiarity with academic administration through serving on academic committees, working as a programme or subject leader, etc. Desirable Evidence of publications including academic and industry publications and conference presentations. A positive personal work ethic, solid organizational and time management skills, the capacity to tackle multiple responsibilities, prioritize important tasks, and deliver on time.
