Negros Oriental State University

Negros Oriental State University is a public state university in Dumaguete City, Philippines, established in 2004. It was formed through the conversion of the Central Visayas Polytechnic College into Negros Oriental State University and integrated the Genaro Goñi Memorial College Siaton Community College, and the Mabinay Institute of Technology to make the sole state university in the province. 

The university began life from a single woodworking class at what was then Negros Oriental State University in 1907, taught by American Leonard Brendenstein.

Today, it operates nine campuses across Negros Oriental, with its two campuses in Dumaguete City serving as its main hubs. Dumaguete City is a UNESCO Creative City of Literature, which has been home to generations of writers and hosts many writers’ workshops and festivals. Additional campuses in Bais, Bayawan-Sta. Catalina, Guihulngan, Mabinay, Pamplona, and Siaton enable the university to deliver higher education throughout the province. 

The Main Campus houses the College of Engineering and Architecture, College of Industrial Technology, College of Business Administration, College of Computer Studies, and the Institute of Management, while Main Campus II accommodates the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Teacher Education, College of Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, and the College of Law. 

Academic offerings extend across more than 40 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering, architecture, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, education, business, information technology, hospitality management, criminology, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, and law. 

The Bayawan-Sta. Catalina Campus specialises in agriculture, forestry, and environmental management, while the Bais Campus is recognised for fisheries and marine programmes.
