Pakistan’s National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was founded in 1991.

NUST is a research-led university which was originally established as a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) college. Its vision is to explore both traditional and emerging STEM fields.

The university is in the process of developing its own science and technology park, with the aim of becoming one of the top research universities in the world.

NUST’s teaching is highly in demand, with some 70,000 applicants for around 7,000 places in 2015. The university prides itself on challenging conventional teaching methods with new ways of delivering courses.

Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad, is the location of NUST’s main campus. Smaller campuses housing faculties such as the College of Aeronautical Engineering can be found in Rawalpindi, Risalpur and Karachi, spanning the breadth of the country.

NUST is an excellent choice for sports enthusiasts. The 700 acre Islamabad campus has courts for cricket, volleyball, basketball, soccer and squash, and a hockey stadium and tennis courts are under construction.

Islamabad is an ancient city with an intriguing modern edge. This is reflected in sights like the Faisal Mosque, the fourth largest mosque in the world, which has a futuristic design.

Just 30 kilometres away lie the ruins of the ancient settlement of Taxila, Pakistan’s top tourist destination.

Five of the world’s tallest peaks are located near to Islamabad, which sits near the foot of the Himalayas. The green hills which surround the city are perfect for walking.

Description We are looking to hire a Junior Research Scientist or engineer to help us design and build novel systems and tools for decision-making support. You can learn more about our research vision and work on the lab website (huda-lab.github.io). HuDa lab examines data and decision-making from a tooling and systems-building perspective. You can learn more about the lab’s PI, Prof Azza Abouzied, here (azzaabouzied.com). A successful candidate should be able to design and implement systems and tools as well as demonstrate their efficacy through comparative performance evaluations or user studies. They should be able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the project's scope. As we publicly share all our code and data artifacts, good coding & reproducible experimentation practices are a must. We meet frequently to provide short status updates and have regular technical 1-1s to dive deep into research problems. Successful RAs or REs present their work, progress, and challenges concisely and clearly. They should be keen about publishing their work and findings and strive to meet deadlines. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required. The candidate should also demonstrate experience and excellence in systems or tool building, algorithmic thinking, and research. The ability to program in Python, C++, and other frameworks is a must. Comfort with declarative programming, SQL, and data management is highly desired. The job description further outlines desired skill sets, including the completion of advanced courses or projects in systems, HCI, or AI/ML. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate a web-based Ship Simulation and Optimisation Software Platform. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Develop naval architecure calculation and ship design tools based on analytical or empirical methods, i.e., stability calculation, resistance and propulsion estimation, weight estimation, etc. ii. Develop a practical parametric model framework for ship and system design. iii. Carry out naval architecture calculations, i.e., stability, resistance, hydrodynamic analysis, etc. iv. Carry out ship hydrodynamic and CFD simulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of naval architecture and ship hydrodynamics. Have a degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering / Other Relevant Engineering Degree. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous. Role Overview As a University of Applied Learning, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to develop applied research capabilities that translate directly into real-world deployment. Our research staff are equipped with industry-relevant skills through hands-on work on operational research platforms and systems. The SIT Centre for Intelligent Robotics (CIR) is a strategic capability centre under RoboPrecinct@Punggol Digital District (PDD), responsible for developing and sustaining the simulation, digital twin, and embodied AI foundations required for precinct-level deployment of robotic systems. We are seeking a Robotics Simulation Engineer to support the Centre’s robotics and embodied AI initiatives. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of multi-platform robotics simulation environments, supporting research, development, testing, and Sim2Real transfer of robotic systems. The successful candidate will work across NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, and related simulation platforms, enabling scalable experimentation and robust system-level evaluation prior to real-world deployment. Key Responsibilities Develop, configure, and maintain robotics simulation environments across multiple platforms, including NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, and other relevant simulators for different applications and robotics platform Design modular and reusable simulation assets for robots, environments, sensors, and physics configurations. Integrate robotic platforms into simulation, including URDF/SDF workflows, articulation setup, and validation of kinematics and dynamics. Configure and tune physics simulation parameters (contacts, friction, joint limits, control rates, solver settings) to ensure realistic robot behaviour. Develop and maintain sensor simulation pipelines (RGB, depth, RGB-D, LiDAR, IMU) for perception and learning-based robotics. Support simulation-to-real (Sim2Real) workflows, including domain randomization, sensor noise modelling, and reality-gap mitigation. Integrate simulations with ROS / ROS 2 for closed-loop robot control, testing, and benchmarking. Automate simulation setup, execution, and experiment management using Python and C++, supporting batch experiments and data collection. Support system-level experimentation, benchmarking, and iterative improvement of embodied AI and robotic applications. Prepare technical documentation, simulation guidelines, and reusable templates to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability. Provide mentorship to undergraduate students in projects. Carry out risk assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and implementation guides to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability. Contribute to publications and technical notes to disseminate research outcomes. The employee is to communicate with any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline. Hands-on experience with at least two robotics simulation platforms, such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo. Practical experience working with URDF and/or SDF robot models and simulation integration. Working knowledge of robotics physics and dynamics, including articulated systems. Experience integrating simulation environments with ROS or ROS 2. Proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of C++ for simulation or robotics software development. Minimum 2 years of experience in robotics simulation, robotics research, or industry-based robotics projects. Preferred Skillsets (Advantageous) Experience with USD-based workflows and Omniverse-based simulation environments. Familiarity with PhysX and/or other physics engines used in robotics simulation. Experience supporting Sim2Real pipelines for real-robot deployment. Exposure to reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or learning-based control in simulation. Experience working with mobile manipulators, humanoid robots, or legged robots. Familiarity with GPU-accelerated simulation, performance optimisation, and Linux-based systems.
