The National Institute of Technology Hamirpur was founded in 1986 with only two departments - civil and electrical engineering. It received university status in 2002 and became the National Institute of Technology Hamirpur.
The campus is located in Hamirpur in the Himalayan State of Himachal Pradesh in India.
The institute offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering, science, architecture, management and humanities.
Student clubs and activities include fine art, drama, English and music. There are annual events for students to take part in including yoga day, cultural festivals, innovation incubators, technical festival and the sports meet.
