Working across donor acquisition, retention and engagement, you will develop compelling communications that connect supporters with the real-world impact of their generosity—from widening access to education and supporting student success, to advancing research that benefits communities. Through donor impact reports, cases for support, appeals, events communications and the University’s Impact of Giving publications, you will play a central role in strengthening philanthropic engagement and ensuring the impact of giving at Flinders is recognised with clarity, warmth and purpose. Your Key Position Responsibilities will include: Leading the marketing and communications of the annual program of fundraising appeals. Writing, editing, and proofreading high-quality content for donor- and prospective donor-facing materials, consistent with University brand guidelines and policies, including donor impact reports, direct mail, social media posts, speeches, articles, e-newsletters, and printed publications. Sourcing and coordinating the production of dynamic and engaging multimedia content—including photography, video, and digital assets—that supports donor recognition, storytelling, and the cultivation of prospective supporters across digital and print channels. Providing marketing and communications support for donor events and activities, the Planned Giving Program, staff workplace giving, and other forms of donor engagement and stewardship.  For a comprehensive list of Key Position Responsibilities, please view the Position Description  About You As you will be working collaboratively across the team to ensure the delivery of a consistent, coherent, and persuasive narrative across all philanthropic initiatives, you will possess excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills, including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Your exceptional writing and editing skills (including accuracy and attention to detail and experience in writing, editing and proofreading quality written content) are second to none, as is your extensive experience in and detailed knowledge of contemporary and best practice communications, multimedia and marketing campaigns, especially for donor and prospective donor audiences. Keys to your success include: Proven experience in developing and implementing innovative marketing and communications strategies tailored to internal and external audiences. Proficiency using client management systems and software to support communications objectives, for example, CRM Raiser’s Edge and Campaign Monitor for disseminating emails. The ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and successfully deliver them on time and at a high level of quality. A commitment to excellence and the principles of continuous improvement and ability to develop and deliver plans, measure outcomes and report on potential improvements for the future. It is expected that the successful candidate will have completed a degree in communications, media studies, marketing or a related discipline with subsequent relevant experience or have an equivalent combination of experience, education or training. We are seeking to recruit 2 Research Fellows in Marine Biogeochemistry to undertake research into the processes controlling biological productivity and trace element supply in the Southern Ocean. Based within the School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES) of the University of Southampton and located at the National Oceanography Southampton (NOCS), the role will focus on the analysis of samples and observational and experimental data from the Southern Ocean within the NERC funded ‘Iron and Manganese Impacts on the Future of Southern Ocean Ecosystems (Iron-Man)’ project.  Applicants should have a PhD* or equivalent in biological oceanography / marine biogeochemistry (or a related field). You would be expected to undertake sample and data analyses originating from the recent research expedition associated with the project and disseminate key aspects of the research project related to phytoplankton ecophysiology, trace element supply and biogeochemical cycling. Knowledge or experience of at sea observational and/or experimental work, or data analysis thereof, related to phytoplankton/microbial ecology/physiology and trace elements would be advantageous. Strong quantitative and communication skills, and the ability to conduct innovative research resulting in publications in international refereed journals are essential. The successful applicants will be provided with a supportive and rewarding environment for further development of their knowledge, skills and experience, including through working as part of a large interdisciplinary oceanographic team comprised of sea-going phytoplankton and zooplankton ecologists, nutrient and trace metal biogeochemists and experts in ocean modelling. Under the guidance and support of the project (co-)PIs you will be encouraged to explore your own research interests, within the broader constraints of the overall project objectives. You will join a team led by Profs.
