Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology

Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology was formed in 1968 to train skilled operatives for the textile and light industries which grew around the fertile cotton fields of the Fergana Valley.
It was granted university status in 1992 and it took its current name in 2011
The university started with two classrooms in central Namanagan, a city on the Silk Road. It is now divided into faculties of light industry, automation and energy, economics, chemical technology, agricultural production technology and engineering technology.
Among its projects is diversification away from the district’s dependence on cotton.
It is among the founding members of the World Textile Universities Alliance and runs a joint degree with Saratov State Technical University, Russia. Partnerships have been formed with Ege University in Turkey and Osh State University in Kyrgyzstan among others.

About the Role

We are seeking either an inspiring Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in Speech Pathology to deliver engaging, student-centred teaching in speech pathology across all levels and learning modes within the College.

The Associate Lecturer will design, coordinate and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, workshops and assessments for Speech Pathology students. The incumbent will contribute to planning, reviewing and improving topic content, and assist in developing high-quality teaching materials under the guidance of senior staff. The position also involves providing academic support, professional guidance and career advice to students.

The Lecturer will play an active role in planning, coordinating and evaluating topics, including taking on Topic Coordinator responsibilities when required.

A key part of the role is contributing to the ongoing review, renewal and design of innovative curricula that attract diverse student cohorts and foster creativity and critical thinking.

The Lecturer will also provide academic guidance, professional advice and meaningful support to students as they navigate their studies and plan their careers. Embracing new technologies and teaching innovations, The Lecturer will help ensure an exceptional learning experience for all.

Associate Lecturer

You offer proven tertiary-level teaching experience within Speech Pathology, supported by a strong track record in designing, preparing, and delivering high-quality curriculum. You are skilled in assessing student learning through diverse methods and have a clear understanding of curriculum review processes and both internal and external accreditation requirements.

Your teaching approach demonstrates a commitment to innovation, using contemporary technologies to enhance engagement and learning outcomes. Job description

The primary responsibility of the Executive Director: Library and Information Centre is to lead, manage, and ensure the success of the Library and Information Centre (LIC) of the University. The focus is on making the LIC and its services future-fit for lifelong learning and continuous education. The strategic focus of this role is to support and advance the LIC through several targeted interventions, innovations and partnerships including internal and external stakeholders, in a way that contributes to the achievement of the University’s Strategic Objectives.

The Library and Information Centre views itself as a globally acknowledged, African gateway to scholarly information. It consists of five libraries at the Bunting Road, Doornfontein, Kingsway and Soweto campuses, a central supporting unit consisting of Library Systems, the Acquisition and bibliographic description of record a Bindery; and the Archives, Special Collections, the Institutional Repository, serving a student population as well as the staff, researchers and visiting scholars of the nine Faculties and professional and support divisions.

The University collection is based on the needs of a modern, new, comprehensive institution and consists of both print and digital information resources. The use of information technology for access and other library functions is an important focus in the implementation of the LIC strategy. A high premium is placed on the preservation and dissemination of knowledge and scholarly communication, information fluency, as well as on the needs of previously disadvantaged students.

The Executive Director will be expected to:


	Determine, articulate, implement and lead the Library’s strategic initiatives in accordance with the University’s strategic goals in order to continuously elevate teaching, research, community engagement and global engagement;
	Review and advance the Library strategy in accordance with the University’s 2035 strategic objectives;
	Take the Library further into the virtual space;
	Conceptualise and collaborate with peer institutions to innovate new, cost-effective, virtual and integrated library models and procurement systems;
	Conceptualize and coordinate related strategic initiatives relating to mobilising grants, donations and sponsorships;
	Strengthen relationships with stakeholders and partners, nationally and internationally;
	Take the Library further into new and emerging digital scholarship technologies to support research, teaching and learning in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and beyond;
	Ensure sustained excellence of community engagement;
	Promote Library services and resources through coordinated marketing interventions;
	Promote the Library and University in broader national and international contexts;
	Oversee staff development and management, including retention and recruitment;

	Ensure the effective and efficient management and utilisation of the Division’s finances and resources;

Minimum requirements


	A PhD Degree (NQF 10) or equivalent in the relevant field.
	At least 10 years' demonstrable experience in a senior leadership position.
	Substantive and acknowledged academic stature and a sound understanding of the current national and international research, innovation, and academic landscape.
	Substantive leadership stature, with an excellent reputation supported by senior academic and/or administrative experience.
	In-depth understanding of current national and international debates around library administration and related approaches, or in-depth understanding of current debates on teaching and learning and research in Higher Education.
	Proven excellent strategic leadership skills and knowledge, insights, and vision to support the academic community and leadership within the University to provide best practices and state-of-the-art library-related practices.
	Sound knowledge of, insight into, and vision of Higher Education sector – nationally, regionally, and internationally.

Terms of appointment:

Retirement Age: The normal retirement age for members of the Executive Leadership Group is 65. Consideration will be given to candidates who would be able to serve for a full 5-year term.

Job Description

The successful applicant will hold a doctoral degree in education, preferably in inclusive education with a demonstrated research trajectory in one or more of the following areas of inclusive education: inclusive schooling, curriculum, assessment, psychology and counseling, assistive technology, rural and marginalized populations, leadership, policy and governance, intersecting areas such as culture and disability, and specialised educational needs. The candidate should present a robust scholarly portfolio that includes peer-reviewed publications, grant-funded projects, and evidence of sustained scholarly impact. A distinguished track record in pedagogical innovation is essential, including experience designing and delivering inclusive, evidence-based instruction in diverse educational settings.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL


	PhD in a relevant discipline (preferably in inclusive education) from a top-ranked English-medium university.
	Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes, including innovative curriculum design, academic programme development and leadership, and research supervision at master’s and doctoral levels. At least eight years of post-terminal degree teaching experience, with at least three years of teaching at the graduate level at respectable institutions of higher education.
	Internationally established research reputation at the Professorial level underpinned by publications in top-ranked peer-reviewed journals, knowledge translation expertise, and success in obtaining globally competitive external research grants.
	Demonstrate academic leadership that shapes global debates in inclusive education, including contributions to international research networks, editorial leadership, and advancement of theoretical and policy developments within the field.
	Evidence of at least 15 research publications (at least 10 of them should be in Scopus-indexed Q1/Q2 journals, and at least five of them should be in the last three years).
	Evidence of successful contribution to developing a direction of research, leading research projects as a primary investigator, including grants of national and international importance. The appointee should have a proven record of securing substantial competitive funding and leading large-scale, multi-institutional or multi-country research programmes that generate measurable impact on policy and practice.
	Previous experience in the supervision, management and timely completion of doctoral students, including advising and improving on research excellence, career development and candidature management.
	Evidence of positive engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline within the inclusive education sector.
	Successful record of achieving milestones of strategic importance in leadership of teaching, research, and/ or project management. For example, leading large-scale, interdisciplinary, and/or community-based intervention research projects funded by national or international agencies (e.g., UNESCO, UNICEF, EU, Erasmus+, British Council.
	Proven high-level face-to-face and online teaching skills, and course design employing varying modes and delivery designs for an inclusive education curriculum. Expertise in inclusive pedagogical frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, and disability-inclusive curriculum and assessment design.
	Capacity to assume a senior leadership role in teaching, research and service in the School and University. This includes leading major research clusters, contributing to academic programme innovation, supporting internationalisation efforts, and strengthening the School’s global visibility through strategic collaborations.
	Thorough understanding of policies and conventions relevant to equity in education, such as ethnic and socio-cultural minorities, and economically disadvantaged groups, for example, Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability, and the current global Beyond 2030 debates. The School particularly welcomes candidates whose work advances decolonial, culturally grounded, and Global South perspectives on inclusive education, enriching the epistemic diversity of research and teaching.


DESIRABLE


	Leadership of relevant professional associations.
	Knowledge of Kazakhstan and/ or Central Asia / post-Soviet contexts.

Conditions of Employment:

About Us

This post is a member of the Professional Services team in the School of Basic & Biomedical Sciences (BMBS) at King’s College London. The post holder will be an experienced and highly motivated administrator to provide support to the BHF Chair of Molecular Cardiology, Prof Mathias Gautel, the King’s Mechanobiology Centre, and to the Hub for Applied Bioinformatics (HAB).

About the role

The post holder will work closely with Prof Gautel, the School’s Professional Services team, Dr Alessandra Vigilante, HAB academic lead and colleagues across the University. This post holder will be providing a range of administrative and operational services to highly research-focused academic groups, with the opportunity to use and develop their skills across the whole range of operations. The post holder will provide executive support to Prof Gautel and his group acting as first point of contact for internal and external queries, supporting key operational areas including HR and research finance processes, as well as supporting conferences and events that facilitate scientific collaboration and public engagement.

The post holder will gain experience more broadly across the institution through supporting the activities for the KCL Mechanobiology Centre led by Prof Gautel and the Hub for Applied Bioinformatics, led by Dr Alessandra Vigilante. Time will be allocated using a shared workplan, and priorities will be coordinated jointly by Prof Gautel and Dr Vigilante, with the expectation of a balance of responsibilities between the Gautel group and the Hub for Applied Bioinformatic.

The role is highly varied. The post holder must have excellent organisational skills, be accurate, with good attention to detail in a busy environment with tight deadlines. They will have excellent communication skills and be able to develop good working relationships with the School’s academics and researchers as well as King’s Human Resources, the Faculty’s Management Accounts Team and the Research Management & Innovation Directorate. Experience in research administration would be desirable but not essential, as the post is supported by the wider operations team within the department and School and training will be provided where necessary.

This is a full- time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 3 years.

The role is based fully on site with the potential to work in a hybrid fashion following successful completion of Probation Period and in agreement with the Line Manager.

Start date is no sooner than 2nd March 2026.

	Accuracy and attention to detail with ability to maintain standards across multiple concurrent activities
	Excellent data management and document control skills


Desirable criteria


	Experience of working in a higher education institute or research environment
	Experience of supporting research grants and/or HR processes
	Experience of Committee servicing and/or events organisation
