The Research Engineer (Microgrid Controller Design) will contribute to a one-year applied research project funded by the Singapore Army, focusing on the development of a mobile DC microgrid for military tactical applications. The role involves designing and implementing advanced control algorithms to coordinate multiple energy sources including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, and diesel generators, and dynamically assign grid-forming roles under varying operating conditions. The engineer will develop, simulate, and test controller logic using MATLAB/Simulink or similar environments, analyse performance across diverse scenarios, and document results for technical reporting. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in control systems, software development, and power or energy management applications.

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in the research project to design a mobile DC microgrid controller for military tactical applications.
	Develop control algorithms for dynamic master selection, coordinating BESS, PV, diesel generators, and other sources.
	Implement predictive, rule-based, or optimisation-based control strategies using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or embedded software tools.
	Integrate controller logic with the microgrid model and validate performance under different simulated conditions.
	Conduct testing of control strategies under various operating conditions such as extreme weather, load variation, equipment failure and deployment constraints.
	Prepare documentation, flowcharts, control logic diagrams, and controller specifications for the final report.
	Assist with procurement of software licences and technical equipment.
	Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with WSH regulations.
	Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project.
	Work independently and collaboratively to maintain research software and project tools.
	To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
	Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor.


Job Requirements


	Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university.
	Strong programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or similar environments.
	Understanding of control systems, power electronics, or energy management strategies.
	Experience in microgrid controller design is advantageous.
	Familiarity with BESS control strategies, SOC management, or optimisation algorithms preferred.
	Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project.
	Ability to implement and test algorithmic logic using simulation tools.
	Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
	Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

An integral part of CREATIC CoE is the Czech Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (CZECRIN), a large research infrastructure that provides coordinated support for clinical research and clinical trials in the Czech Republic and serves as the national hub of the European research infrastructure ECRIN-ERIC.

We are seeking an experienced leader to take on the strategic and scientific leadership of the Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) within the CZECRIN research infrastructure. The successful candidate will be capable of combining strategic vision, expertise in clinical research, people management skills, and the ability to foster collaboration with research teams, hospitals, and other partners.

The scope of your work will be: 


	Providing strategic and scientific leadership of the Clinical Trials Centre (CTC), including the management of a portfolio of national and international clinical trials.
	Leading and managing a multidisciplinary CTC team that provides comprehensive support for academic clinical trials.
	Ensuring the quality of services delivered and compliance of all activities with Czech and EU legislation, ICH-GCP requirements, and internal quality standards.
	Coordinating regulatory processes with the Czech State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL), ethics committees, and other relevant authorities.
	Planning, continuously evaluating, and efficiently allocating CTC staff resources across professional roles to ensure the high-quality and timely conduct of clinical trials.
	Expanding and developing the CTC service portfolio across the entire clinical trial lifecycle, including educational and training activities.
	Establishing, continuously optimizing, and standardizing internal CTC processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and compliance with international standards.
	Actively contributing to the development of academic clinical research in the Czech Republic and to the implementation of the strategic activities of the national research infrastructure CZECRIN.
	Representing CZECRIN at professional conferences, meetings, and working groups both in the Czech Republic and internationally.


Required qualification:


	University degree (a background in healthcare, pharmacy, or life sciences is an advantage).
	At least 8 years of experience in the field of clinical trials; experience in project management and leadership of professional teams is an advantage.
	Excellent knowledge of European and Czech clinical trial regulations and legislation (including Regulation (EU) No. 536/2014 and ICH-GCP).
	Familiarity with project management, quality management, and risk management principles.
	Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
	Excellent command of Czech, both written and spoken.
	Proficient command of English, both written and spoken.
	Strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently, and high ethical standards.

Role Summary

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to contribute to a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) funded project investigating strategies to improve phosphorus (P) use efficiency in high P-fixing soils across the southern and western grain-growing regions of Australia.

Work that matters

The Research Fellow will contribute to a nationally important research initiative focused on improving phosphorus use efficiency and increasing the value of fertiliser inputs for growers managing high phosphorus-fixing soils.

Working as part of a collaborative research team, the Research Fellow will undertake laboratory and glasshouse-based research investigating soil phosphorus dynamics, fertiliser management strategies and approaches to improve phosphorus availability and uptake for crop production. The role will contribute to the foundational research component of the project, including investigating how phosphorus fixation varies with soil characteristics and developing improved approaches for diagnosing high P-fixing soils.

The research will explore the influence of key factors, including crop type, phosphorus application timing and soil moisture, on phosphorus availability and utilisation. Combining laboratory-based research with large-scale paddock trials, the project works closely with growers, agronomists and industry stakeholders to develop practical, regionally relevant phosphorus management strategies. The Research Fellow will also contribute to research capability development through co-supervision of a PhD candidate and collaboration with researchers and project partners.
