JOB DESCRIPTION Location: HCMC, Vietnam Department: Vice President Academic, Innovation & Research Report to: Vice President Academic, Innovation & Research, Millennia University POSITION OVERVIEW The Director, Foundation & Preparatory Programs at Millennia Education provides strategic, academic and operational leadership for all university foundations, pathway and preparatory programs. The role ensures that students who do not meet direct entry requirements, either English Language or academic are provided with high-quality, student centred engaging learning experience with clear progression into their chosen degree studies. The role also requires that students are integrated into the campus community and develop a strong sense of belonging to the university. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a mult-year strategy for foundation and pathway programs aligned to the universities’ vision Identify opportunities for growth, diversification and partnership development including articulation agreements and school partnerships Champion student centred and accessible practices across all programs Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence with staff and students Program Delivery and Innovation Promote evidence-based, student centred pedagogy, including digital learning, inclusive teaching practices and active learning Lead the design of core language and introductory academic skills programs that are cross-disciplinary Provide high level advice on the identification and development of courses to be included in the Millennia Advantage Program of career and life skills Student Experience and Success Ensure strong student support mechanisms, including orientation, academic advising, early alert systems and transition to degree programs Collaborate with other portfolios to integrate pathway students into the wider campus community Monitor student progression and success data and implement interventions to improve student outcomes and retention Provide high level advice on the design of formal and informal learning spaces for foundation and pathway programs Stakeholder Management Collaborate with Faculties to ensure clear and coherent progression pathways into students chosen degree programs Work with admission, marketing and recruitment to communicate program value proposition and entry criteria Engage with external stakeholders including schools, pathway partners, government agencies and professional bodies REQUIREMENTS Qualification and Experience Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field Relevant teaching qualification Demonstrated experience in foundation and pathway education preferably in a university setting Significant experience in an education leadership role responsible for staff and operations Key skills and Competencies Strong strategic, stakeholder management, relationship building and leadership skills Commitment to access education, inclusion and student success Ability to lead changes, inspire teams and champion innovative and active learning and assessment practices Ability to work effectively in fast paced and complex environments Commitment to professional integrity, academic standards and student well-being Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Establishment of pathway programs to all degree programs Enrollments into pathway programs increase year on year Establishment of an early warning system with interventions to improve student success Student success rates are measured by improved retention rates Child Protection Statement Millennia Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the students in our care and expects all applicants, staff, third party providers, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  The researcher will be part of the team of the NAMIC Project for 3DP Ship Hull Design. The Research Engineer will play a critical role in the development, validation, and optimization of 3D-printed Ship Hull and Connector System. This includes conducting finite element modeling, ship resistance and stability assessments, as well as overseeing AM process and reporting. The role also involves designing and validating connectors for the modular system to ensure mechanical integrity, printability and adaptability. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Resistance Analysis: Conduct simulations to analyze wave interactions, buoyancy, and stability of modular floating structures. Optimize designs for dynamic environmental conditions (e.g., waves, tides, currents). Finite Element and Structural Modeling: Develop and implement finite element models to evaluate structural integrity under load conditions. Perform stress, strain, and fatigue analysis for modular components and connectors. Stability Modeling: Analyze stability characteristics of 3DP ship hull under static and dynamic conditions. Collaborate with teams to develop safe and efficient hull design. Design and Development of Connectors: Design robust, durable connectors means for integrated multiple hull modular units Validate connector performance through simulations and physical testing. AM Process and Validation: Oversee the AM process and testing of 3DP ship hull and connector system. Data Collection and Analysis: Gather testing data during for design optimisation. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports on findings, including recommendations for system enhancements. Present outcomes and progress updates to stakeholders and collaborators. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including material scientists, engineers, and field technicians. Liaise with external partners and vendors for test site setup and equipment. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for marine environment. Maintain high safety standards during field operations and laboratory testing. Research Documentation and Dissemination: Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic and industry stakeholders. Contribute to project proposals and progress updates for funding agencies. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Project Management Support: Ensure timely execution of project milestones Coordinate with external collaborators and manage data-sharing protocols. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment The Research staff is to liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties as assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements Master/PhD in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. Proficiency in hydrodynamic modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS AQWA or equivalent) and finite element analysis software (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS). Experience with stability. Experience in designing connectors or mechanical interfaces is a plus. Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and materials is advantageous. Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data collection instruments and techniques. Excellent communication and report-writing abilities. Ability to work independently and in teams in both lab and field environments. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and teamwork abilities
