We are looking to recruit a Teaching Fellow in Anatomical Sciences to join our committed and enthusiastic team of anatomists and technical staff in our goal to provide the highest quality student experience. This post is based at Southampton General Hospital in the Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences (CLAS) which comprises a large Anatomical Sciences Laboratory. We are part of the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine and we have close interdisciplinary links with other members of the faculty and wider University.  The University of Southampton is a global centre for excellence in education and research and a founding member of the Russell Group. The Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences (CLAS) is part of the larger Medical Education group within the Faculty of Medicine and we benefit from a resource-rich creative environment and the close proximity of our clinical colleagues. Our principal role is to develop and deliver human anatomy teaching and learning for undergraduates. Teaching areas include gross anatomy, microanatomy, developmental anatomy and neuroanatomy. Members of academic staff also have curriculum management and development roles in the Faculty and wider University. Anatomy is taught through prosected specimens which we create in house through the generous donation of members of the public. Our catchment area for donations is the South East of England. Central to our method of delivery is a student-centred approach providing students with a resource-rich environment in which to study. Students undertake a range of activities using high quality bespoke prosected specimens, plastinated and museum specimens, plastic models, bones, imaging material and eLearning packages. Our team comprises the Director of the Centre, 1 Principal Teaching Fellow, 5 Teaching Fellows, Technical Manager and Deputy and 2 Anatomy Laboratory Technicians. Our work is supported by the CLAS administrator. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of anatomy and its sub-disciplines, experience in demonstrating anatomy in practical classes and be enthusiastic and flexible in supporting staff in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We are looking for someone that is keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a lively and committed department which values collegiality highly with the aim to deliver the highest quality student experience. We are seeking to appoint a Medical or Anatomy graduate. The successful candidate will ideally have had experience working within a human anatomy morbid facility. You will be an excellent team player and have a good understanding of the Human Tissue Act. Experience working in a medical school is desirable.
