Murang’a University of Technology has a history that dates back to 1975 when Murang’a College of Technology was established. It was elevated to Murang’a University College in 2011 under Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, before being granted full university status with a charter in October 2016.
The university is situated on a 60-acre campus, just 1.5km east of Murang’a Town, an important regional centre in Murang’a County.
Academically, MUT is structured into seven schools: School of Computing and Information Technology, School of Pure, Applied and Health Sciences, School of Business and Economics, School of Agriculture and Environmental Studies, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, School of Education, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Each school is organised into different departments offering a wide variety of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level.
Student life at MUT is vibrant, with a wide range of clubs, societies, sports, and cultural activities available for students to join. The university also provides strong student support services, including counselling, bursaries, modern library and ICT facilities, and industrial attachment opportunities.
