Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years’ research experience in oncology, cellular and molecular biology, animal experiments, and next generation sequencing. Previous experience in liver cancer and liver transplantation will be advantageous. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua), and a track record of high-quality research demonstrated by publications and research grants. They should also be well organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.  The appointee will participate in basic, clinical, and translational research in the area of liver cancer and liver transplantation. He/She will plan and execute research; prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; and perform other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Your workplace: The History Study Programme Management at the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies covers five institutes and offers two bachelor's and six master's programmes. It has approximately 5,000 students. As a senior lecturer, you will be involved in teaching on the History study programme. The full-time position involves an average of 14 hours of academic teaching per week. If your performance is evaluated positively at the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the position will be converted to a permanent position by mutual agreement. Your future tasks: You will teach 14 SWS per semester, with a focus on the bachelor's level of the BA History and BEd History and Political Education programmes. The teaching portfolio also includes courses in the introductory and orientation phase (StEOP). If required, you may also be assigned courses at the master's level. You will be expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in the field, undertake further training in teaching methods and carry out research tasks during the lecture-free period. In addition, you will be required to perform administrative tasks, particularly in the area of teaching administration. You must be willing to contribute to the further development of teaching in the field of history, for example through the use of AI or the implementation of new curricula.
