Reporting to the Head of School (MNM) and the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (Monash Health), you will provide strategic and research leadership to bridge the gap between academic excellence and clinical practice. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for: Leading world-class collaborative research that informs clinical practice and improves the quality and safety of patient care. Securing external research funding from traditional and innovative sources to sustain high-impact programs. Mentoring and supervising research staff and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students to foster the next generation of healthcare leaders. Providing academic leadership in curriculum development and high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Strengthening partnerships between Monash University, Monash Health, and international agencies to enhance the global profile of the nursing and midwifery professions. Essential Qualifications and Skills: A doctoral qualification (PhD) and recognition as a leading authority in nursing or midwifery. Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). An outstanding scholarly research and publication record and a proven track record of generating significant research income. Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and the ability to lead complex clinical or academic teams. Demonstrated experience managing high-level partnerships between academic and healthcare organisations. Deep familiarity with the Australian health care system and professional standards. You will also engage in professional, community, and iwi service relevant to your discipline. While many core responsibilities are consistent across Lecturer to Professor levels, progression in the role is marked by the delivery of teaching at an increasingly high standard, greater impact and leadership in research, and a growing contribution to academic governance. About the area The International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) is a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA), established in 2009 and funded through 2030 with $65 million from the WA State Government. ICRAR is a leading institution in radio astronomy and a key Australian contributor to the global SKA project. The Astrophotonics Group within ICRAR develops advanced photonic systems for radio and optical astronomy, with a focus on long-distance transfer of stabilised frequency and timing signals via optical fibre and free-space laser links. About the opportunity Contribute to small research team conducting research on free-space optical communication, specifically optimised for operations within maritime environments. Work within a UWA small team and contribute to collaborations with project partner organisations including industry, government, and defence. Conduct technical work including laboratory experiments and hardware development, software and algorithm development, optical communications development, and assist with maritime and airborne field trials. About you Completed 4 years of tertiary study or equivalent qualifications and experience with software, programming, simulation, and algorithm development (Python or MATLAB).
