Misamis University

Misamis University is located in the Philippines and was first established in 1929 as Kolambugan Academy in the country’s Lanao del Norte province. It later relocated to Ozamiz City in 1931 and was renamed Misamis Institute, before becoming Misamis College in 1955 as its academic offerings expanded. The institution was granted full university status in 1977, formally becoming Misamis University.

The university’s main campus is located in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental, Northern Mindanao, with an additional campus in Oroquieta City, the capital of Misamis Occidental province. Its main campus spans approximately 7.5 hectares in an urban setting within a region characterised by agriculture and cultural history. 

Misamis University offers a variety of basic education, undergraduate, and graduate programmes across a wide range of subject areas. Academic units comprise eight colleges: the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Management, Engineering, Education, Nursing and Health Sciences, Computer Studies, and Criminology. 

Programme offerings include civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, business administration, accountancy, and financial management, information technology and computer science, criminology and criminal justice education, nursing and allied health, and education.

The university currently supports around 8,000 students. Study at Misamis University is supported through specialised academic facilities including the university library’s electronic resource section and discipline-specific collections. The university also maintains dedicated laboratory and training facilities for nursing, dentistry, medical technology, and engineering-related programmes.
