Established by Dr Teh-Ming Pao and Dr Ying-Chao Lee in 1957, Ming Chuan University was originally founded as Taiwan’s first women’s business school. The institution was founded on the principle of improving Taiwan’s prospects by educating a new generation of business professionals, as well as providing women with the opportunity to develop skills and careers in a patriarchal society. As it grew larger the university developed more faculties and in 1997 it was accredited by the Ministry of Education, becoming Ming Chuan University.

The university has had several locations in its short history but it is now primarily located in the Shihlin District of Taipei, with a number of smaller satellite campuses also being operated. The university is home to a large number of students, primarily undergraduates although Master’s and Doctoral Degree courses are also offered. There are nine major disciplines offered by the university – management, communication, social science, tourism, IT, health technology, law, design, and education and applied languages, as well as an international college.

The university is also a member of the Taiwanese U9 league, a group of well-known private universities first established in 2016.

The university celebrates its anniversary with an annual cheerleading competition between the various different departments, and teams are ranked by a group of judges with cash prizes available for the winners.

The Role and the Department Research and Innovation Services (RIS) provides guidance, expert advice and hands-on support for all aspects of research and research-related work, including securing funding, working with partners, undertaking knowledge exchange, demonstrating impact, commercialising outputs, ensuring good research practice and supporting professional development. This post sits within the Policy, Systems and Performance team in Research & Innovation Services (RIS). The team is responsible for the University's research information management systems, the overall governance and ethical framework for both funded and unfunded research & research related activities across the institution, support for institutional strategy development and the compilation of relevant returns including HEBCI, KEF, KEC and REF , as well as management information reporting relating to university research and knowledge exchange (RKE) activities. As Research Systems and Information Officer you will contribute to the implementation and development of the RIS RKE systems as well as training and communications about these systems across the University. Current research systems include Worktribe Research Management, Infonetica Ethics RM, and Dynamics CRM. You will contribute to ensuring our research systems are configured in the most optimal and user-friendly way and that any associated training and communications will be delivered in a clear, concise and timely manner. You will analyse research data and develop and present reports to key stakeholders You will report to the Senior Manager - Research Systems and Reporting but will work closely with colleagues across the Research and Innovation Services Directorate as well as colleagues in faculties, departments and across professional support services. It is essential that as Research Systems and Information Officer you are highly organised and pay close attention to detail. The capability to prioritise and manage a busy and varied workload is crucial. The ability to work across business-as-usual activities and multiple concurrent projects at different stages of development is essential. This role is suitable for hybrid working. The base location for this role is Boldon House, our exciting new professional services hub.Boldon House is situated on the outskirts of Durham near the Arnison Centre in Pity Me. Boldon House brings a number of professional services teams together in a vibrant office environment which supports collaborative working and is designed to embrace hybrid working.

The School of Physics and Astronomy is seeking a Senior Teaching Laboratory Technician with the knowledge, practical skill and management ability to support the delivery of a high-quality student experience in our teaching laboratories. The Role and the Department Northern Accelerator is led by Durham University in partnership with Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside - who come together through Universities for North East England (UNEE). We are seeking a skilled, creative and experienced Marketing and Communications Officer who can provide excellent communications and events support for Northern Accelerator. The postholder will also work with the programme team to support the commercialisation eco-system with a programme of excellent internal communications activity. The postholder will work closely with the Northern Accelerator and SCENE project teams, side-by-side with the Marketing Officer for SCENE. Internally our projects are separately funded, but externally you will support a strong cohesive Northern Accelerator brand across all activity. Northern Accelerator is an ambitious project strong aims and multiple partners and the role of communications will be key in ensuring the visibility of the various aspects of the programme and maintaining a strong sense of common endeavour. Ideally, the postholder will have a good understanding of innovation and commercialisation purposes and mechanisms and be able to work flexibly and collaboratively with our partners and stakeholders to design and ensure delivery of effective communication plans. They will also need to understand the purpose of our national and regional funders in allocating the resource, in order to maintain alignment of Northern Accelerator communications activity with the economic plans in the North East and national commercialisation objectives. The main duties of the post will be: Working with the Head of Regional programmes, Programme Manager and other team members, design and ensure a strong and visible communications and events plan to support the effective delivery of the Northern Accelerator programme. Co-ordinate internal communications activity between the University partners and the wider network of Strategic partners to underpin the success of the commercialisation ecosystem. Work closely with the wider network of Communications staff to ensure there are complementary communication activities across, Northern Accelerator, the SCENE programme, the Commercialisation and Spinout Fund, and any other projects which re-enforce their brands and demonstrate the collaboration between North East universities. Provide support, advice, information, presentations and guidance to University staff regarding the communications activities within the project, including ensuring compliance with the expectations of partners and funders with respect of use of logos and other corporate or programme identities and to be the focal point for communications across the University and strategic partners. Monitor communications activities against a key set of metrics and make proposals for improvement The postholder will sit within Durham University's Research and Innovation Services (RIS) team, accountable to the Head of Regional Programmes. RIS is a professional services directorate at the heart of Durham University which provides expertise, leadership and support to academics and professional colleagues across the University for all research, research-related, knowledge exchange and economic development activities and aims to strengthen their University's role at the leading-edge of research and innovation, inspiring change across the world and in our region.

Schemes of Service: Research Division: Food, Chemical and Biotechnology Employment Type: Fixed Term As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry partners to deliver translational, impact-driven research. This role supports applied food processing research projects with strong industry relevance, focusing on product development, process optimization and food characterization. Key Responsibilities Lead bench formulation of mushroom‑based and plant‑based food products, especially focusing on muscle‑like architectures to achieve required texture, flavour, and nutrition performance during cooking, reheating, and storage. Apply advanced texturisation techniques, including cold extrusion, lamination, and natural tenderisation strategies (e.g. enzyme treatment, solid-state fermentation), to create fibrous, meat‑like structures that replicate bite, chewiness, and elasticity. Translate scalable solutions from upstream processing (e.g. protein gels, fermented ingredients) into robust food formulations by collaboration with culinary experts, and lead pilot‑scale trials at facilities such as SIT FoodPlant to assess manufacturability, reproducibility, and scalability for clinical and consumer studies. Conduct textural, rheological, and sensory characterisation to evaluate product performance and guide formulation refinement. Consolidate formulation, processing, and performance data to support techno‑economic analysis (TEA), life‑cycle assessment (LCA), and cost–benefit analysis (CBA). Prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, progress updates, and final deliverables for funding agencies and stakeholders. Engage and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support progress meetings, technology transfer activities, conferences, and approved communication channels. Supervise and mentor junior researchers, engineers, students, and visiting scholars involved in the projects. The candidate is to communicate with all relevant internal and external stakeholders as required to meet the project deliverables. Any other adhoc duties assigned by supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related discipline. Strong Master’s degree holders with relevant experience may be considered. Strong background in food formulation, protein‑based systems, and texture design. Hands‑on experience with texturisation technologies, such as extrusion, lamination, gelation, or emulsion‑based structuring. Knowledge of protein gels, microgels, fat mimetics, and structure–function relationships in food matrices. Familiarity with sensory evaluation, texture analysis, and rheological measurements, food system characterization. Experience translating laboratory‑scale formulations into pilot‑scale or industry‑relevant processes. Understanding of nutrition‑driven product design, particularly for vulnerable or special‑needs populations. Ability to integrate culinary considerations into scientific formulation and product development. Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to both scientific rigor and practical feasibility. Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration with engineers, nutritionists, clinicians, and industry partners. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary applied research team. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Good communication and stakeholder management skills, including liaison with vendors, suppliers, and external partners.
