Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Track record in project leadership and impactful industry experience in Chemical Process Technology. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in unit operations (e.g. Heat Exchanger, Distillation Column, Reactors, Cooling Tower etc). Practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Engineering standards including but not limited to ISO9001, OSHA and BSI etc. Practiced in Chemical Process Design software (for e.g. HYSYS) Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and related methods, with a focus on biopharmaceutical analysis would be an advantage. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

Description The Center of Astrophysics and Space Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work with the Mars Research Group to support scientific investigations of the Martian atmosphere and surface using data from the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) “Hope” probe. The position contributes to ongoing research, data analysis, simulation efforts, and dissemination of scientific results from Hope observations. The funding for this position is provided by the UAE Space Agency. The successful applicant will; Analyze Emirates Mars Mission (Hope) data: Conduct detailed analysis of atmospheric and surface observations collected by the UAE’s Hope probe to support scientific goals of understanding Martian atmospheric and surface processes. Assist with analysis of additional Mars mission datasets: Examine and interpret complementary data from other Mars missions to strengthen current models and provide comparative insights that enhance research conclusions from Hope observations. Develop Machine Learning methods and run numerical simulations on NYUAD’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) system. Support preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations: Assist in drafting reports, papers, and conference materials to communicate research findings to the global scientific community. A candidate with a Master’s degree is preferred; however, the minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in physics, computer science, or a related discipline. The role requires strong programming skills in Python, competency in data analysis and scientific computing, and the ability to work with large datasets. Job Purpose:  The Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in sustainability focusing on, but not limited to, the Built Environment sector, working with internal teams and industry partners to develop practical solutions. The role focuses on translating scientific concepts into scalable solutions that address challenges in mitigating the impact of climate change and meeting environmental sustainability target through resource efficiency, energy management, renewable energy, waste management, and other sustainable solutions for various industries. Research engineers will collaborate closely with faculty, professional officers and industry partners to execute commercially viable solutions that address real-world challenges. In the process, research engineers gain valuable applied research capabilities aligned with evolving industry needs. Key Responsibilities: Applied Research & Development Perform sustainability assessment and analysis for organizational green transition. Develop of sustainability solutions and training roadmap development for organizational green transition, focusing on but not limited to the Built Environment sector. Develop and execute of sustainability projects by conducting experiments, data collection, and analysis for Proof of Concept (POC) and implementation for organisations in, but not limited to, the built environment sector at neighbourhood-scale and building-scale, such as microclimate study, building energy and resource-use efficiency, sustainability strategies and technologies. Description The Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to work on "Application of Membrane Desalination to Treat Water from UAE Feed Sources," under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering and Professor Raed Hashaikeh, Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The successful applicant will lead an innovative project focused on developing advanced, high-flux membrane technologies tailored to the unique and extreme water conditions of the Arabian Gulf. He/she will tackle challenges related to high salinity (up to 47,000 ppm) and severe biological fouling, driving innovations in high-pressure Reverse Osmosis (RO) processes. The role involves characterizing local seawater and desalination brine to inform targeted membrane design, as well as advanced membrane fabrication techniques utilizing electrospinning, phase inversion, and additive manufacturing. The researcher will also develop robust pretreatment processes (MF, UF, NF) to protect systems against harsh regional challenges, including harmful algal blooms. Experimental and theoretical investigations of mass transport, compaction, and energy efficiency will be performed to optimize desalination processes for regional sustainability. The successful applicant will oversee projects, develop extensive technical expertise, and implement innovative solutions. He/she will contribute to the development of novel concepts and proposal writing, while efficiently addressing complex challenges. Responsibilities will include writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents, and presenting results at conferences. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of membrane fabrication, characterization, and separation processes. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are essential. The candidate should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Applicants must have a PhD, or equivalent advanced or terminal degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, or related field, with no more than 5 years post receipt of the PhD. Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project are required. Candidates with a demonstrated history of peer-reviewed publications in a related area, along with prior expertise in materials science and analytical chemistry will be preferred. This position will begin in September 2026, as a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance. The position combines independent research with editorial and management responsibilities for the journal Philosophy of AI, the diamond open-access journal of the Society for the Philosophy of AI (https://journals.ub.uni-koeln.de/index.php/phai). This is a 50/50 position. Half the time will be devoted to the appointee’s own philosophical research on AI. The other half will be devoted to editorial and management work for the journal, in collaboration with the journal’s editors in Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Germany. Editorial and management responsibilities include coordinating the peer‑review process; communicating with authors and referees; assisting with special issues and symposia; maintaining the journal’s editorial workflow; and contributing to the journal’s strategic development.
