The newly established Faculty of Science at the University of Macau (UM) invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Computational and AI Biology. This recruitment supports the launch of the new Department of Biological Sciences, part of UM’s strategic initiative to strengthen its foundation in fundamental and applied sciences. As part of UM’s broader academic development plan, the university is undertaking a major structural expansion by restructuring and establishing five faculties in science and technology. Among them, the Faculty of Science will be formed based on relevant program of the current Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). The new Faculty will include the Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics, and Department of Mathematics. The establishment of the Department of Biological Sciences will enhance the faculty’s multidisciplinary ecosystem and foster cross-cutting collaborations in emerging areas of science and technology. The Department of Biological Sciences strives to excel in both fundamental and applied research in biological sciences, particularly in areas of omics, computational biology, AI-driven biology, and generative biology. We seek candidates with expertise in these areas, especially those whose research leverages computational and AI technologies to address fundamental biological questions. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship, while establishing internationally competitive research programs. Qualifications Applicants should hold a PhD in disciplines closely related to the areas specified above, preferably with a strong background in biology.
