Middle Technical University is a non-profit public, co-educational university on Muasker Al Rashid Street in Baghdad, Iraq. There are also campuses in Baquba, Al-Kut, Al Anbar and Al-Suwaira. Founded in 1955 by the Iraqi-American Science Association, an organisation ministered by Jesuit fathers, it has been officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq for five years, since 2014. Middle Technical University is a very large university, with over 40,000 undergraduate students, around 280 master's students and 12 PhD students across 11 technical institutes and five technical colleges in 152 academic and administrative buildings. The university offers courses and programmes leading to qualifications including certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees, bachelor degrees, master's degrees and doctorate degrees. It includes the college of electrical engineering technology, the college of health and medical technology, the technical college of management, the technical engineering college and the college of applied arts. MTU is not very selective, with an admission rate range of about 80 to 90 per cent of all those who apply. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment with costs varying depending on course and degree level. Students have to pay additional costs for room, board and other external costs. The campus includes a library, housing and sport facilities. The official colours are blue and white
