Position Details Continuing | Full-Time Higher Education Officer Level 8 | $116,349 - $128,806 Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position Description About the Role This is a terrific opportunity for Data Engineers who are interested in working with Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Power BI as Flinders’ new Senior Data & Analytics Architect & Engineer. You will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of enterprise data and analytics solutions, and be responsible for providing technical and operational leadership across the full data lifecycle, including architecture, planning, development, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of data platforms and services. Working within and enhancing established data and analytics architecture principles, guardrails, and design standards, you will ensure the reliability, scalability, and integrity of data solutions that support a large, complex organisation of 4,000+ staff. A significant focus of this role is the extraction, integration, and optimisation of data to enable impactful insights—particularly in support of research initiatives and student-focused services. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand data needs, improve access to high-quality data, and drive innovation across analytics capabilities. Some of the key responsibilities of the position include: Leading the ongoing support, architectural design, development, and maintenance of the data and analytics platform (including the data warehouse, database design and data transformation, ETL, stored procedures and data quality) and all relevant data and analytical tools Maintaining the relevant supporting artefacts and leading the periodical review of the IDS data and analytics vision and roadmap to ensure it is kept up to date and well understood by relevant stakeholders Managing the provision of timely and effective advice and support to customers and stakeholders by identifying improvements to support services and providing technical expertise to enable customers to adopt new technologies and processes Establishing and maintaining an agile based way of working to manage, refine, and prioritise the activity backlog based on relevant customer and IDS priorities. Your exemplary interpersonal skills allow you to negotiate, influence and communicate effectively across a diverse organisation particularly during the design, management and implementation of customer solutions. You will also need: Experience in agile ways of working including exposure to scaled agile methodologies and/or collaborating and delivering through a matrix structure. High level experience in data warehousing or business intelligence design, or the use of associated tools, or with processes of implementation. Exceptional skills in leading a team to its full potential, including high level interpersonal and relationship management skills. Higher education experience is advantageous, however, it is expected that the successful candidate will hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment. We are currently seeking to hire a Lead Mechatronics Engineer to take primary technical responsibility for the design, build, integration, and field deployment of mechatronics systems for ground robots operating in extreme field environments. Working under the broad direction of the Chief Investigator, you will design ruggedised autonomous platforms based on integrated off-the-shelf vehicle components, suitable for sustained operation in rugged outdoor terrain across multiple application domains. This is a senior individual contributor role. You will work autonomously on the mechatronics scope of the platform, with technical assurance provided by the Senior Mechatronics Technical Lead at defined design reviews, and with close collaboration alongside Software Engineers and Postdoctoral Research Fellows. The appointment is offered initially for 12 months. The programme is funded across multiple years and there is strong potential for extension subject to performance and continued funding. About the role This position will undertake research using the Kids and Sibs study, a longitudinal investigation examining predictors of bipolar disorder development in a high-risk population with up to 15 years of follow-up. The study includes rich phenotypic data, as well as neuroimaging and blood biomarkers (including genetic data) on up to 440 individuals, with varying lengths of follow up (PI Mitchell). The data are aligned with an international dataset (across four US Universities) ensuring opportunities for robust replication. We also encourage applicants with broad interests in neuroscience and epidemiology relating skills, as additional research opportunities are available using linked data research, and intervention development/evaluation (PI Ratheesh). Applicants with prior research expertise relating to bipolar disorder or depression are especially encouraged.
