Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike is one of three universities of agriculture established by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It was established in 1992. The university is located in Umudike, a town in Ikwuano Local Government Area Abia State, Nigeria. Umudike is 11 kilometers southeast of the state capital city, Umuahia. There are currently 12 colleges within the university: agricultural economic and extension, applied food sciences and tourism, animal science and animal production, crop and soil sciences, engineering and engineering technology, natural resources and environmental management, education, natural science, physical and applied sciences, management science, veterinary medicine, and the school of general studies. Each college is divided into different departments, which offer a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes. The university is home to a number of centres including the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Centre for Gender and Child Development, and the Centre for Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology. These centres facilitate research projects conducted by both students and staff. The university’s motto is "knowledge, food and security". It aims to provide the knowledge base for achieving food security and alleviate hunger in Nigeria and around the world.

NIHR Maternity Disparities Consortium - Research Fellow

Applications are invited for an ambitious Research Fellow to work at the University of Southampton and contribute to a nationally-leading research programme funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) through the NIHR Maternity Disparities Consortium. The NIHR Maternity Disparities Consortium is a £50 million national initiative bringing together a diverse range of organisations with expertise in research, capacity development and working with people and communities to deliver a step change in maternity outcomes and developing future research leaders in this area of need. The research carried out by the consortium will focus on inequalities before, during and after pregnancy. The postholder will join the Preconception and Interpregnancy Health theme, which is evaluating a new system-wide blueprint for preconception and interpregnancy care and support. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will undertake a mixed-methods evaluation, using qualitative and quantitative research to understand the blueprint’s implementation, effectiveness and impact on maternity outcomes. You will play a key role in designing and delivering research, collecting and analysing data, publishing findings, working closely with NHS, community and third-sector partners, and contributing to knowledge exchange activities. The role offers excellent opportunities to develop your research profile, build collaborative networks, and contribute to improving outcomes for women and families, particularly those from underserved communities. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed-term appointment until 31 May 2028, in the first instance. Subject to NIHR review and funding, there may be opportunities for elements of the research programme to continue beyond this date. Job Description SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS Part-time Lecturer (26270038) The Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Global Entertainment) program is a transdisciplinary initiative designed to nurture future leaders in the global entertainment and creative industries. The program is looking for Part-time Lecturer(s) to teach undergraduate course(s) in the following areas: Fundamentals of the global entertainment business and operational models Talent, brand, and artiste management in the creative sector Creative entrepreneurship, design thinking, and business innovation Planning, marketing, and management of signature/large-scale art events Any other related disciplines within the creative industries The ideal candidate should hold a master’s degree or above in related disciplines, with at least 3 years of professional experience in the global entertainment and creative industries. Candidates should possess strong industry knowledge in areas such as content development, licensing, artiste management, event planning, or creative entrepreneurship. Previous teaching experience at the university level is highly preferred. As the medium of instruction for these courses is English, an excellent command of English is required. Excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a passion for mentoring students are also essential. Duties may also include the supervision of students, marking of examination papers and collaborative projects, and any other work as assigned by the Programme Director. The initial appointment will be offered on a part-time basis commencing Sep 2026. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review and course availability.
