Meikai University, a private university in the town of Urayasu, in the Tokyo Bay Area of Japan, was founded in 1970. Its School of Dentistry is in Sakado, Saitama, surrounded by forest.

The Urayasu campus is about 16 minutes by train from Tokyo station on the JR Keiyo Line Rapid Express. and has quick access to downtown Tokyo. The Sakado campus is about a nine minute walk from Kawakami station on the Tobu Oshii Line.

In total, Meikai has over 4,000 graduate and undergraduate students across seven departments,: Japanese, English, Chinese, economics, real estate sciences, hospitality and tourism management and dentistry.

The six-year dentistry programme sees students enrol in liberal arts courses over the first two years, before focussing on dentistry and medical knowledge. From the fifth year, students get practical training for a year at the university’s affiliated Mekai University Hospital.

The Global Management Major is taught entirely in English. Students spend a year studying abroad at the hospitality and tourism departments of other universities

The university takes in about 600 international students per year. It has also opened a Japanese language course for foreign students wanting to go to university in Japan. It also sends about 150 students a year abroad on exchange programmes, which have included the University of Cambridge, the University of Siena, Tufts University, the University of Alberta and many other universities across the world.

The campus fitness club, known as Meikai club, has a swimming pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and more.
