Background The Faculty of Social Sciences and Institute for Social Research are collaborating to foster cutting-edge areas in social sciences research. This joint post-doctoral researcher aims to support the next generation of leading social sciences researchers, by enabling them to develop a range of research skills in different contexts, working with mentors with different disciplinary and substantive expertise in the social sciences. The successful candidate will have the chance to work with leading researchers (mentors) in both FOSS and ISR to develop his/her research ideas and skills for a future career in academia or another research setting. He/She will work at HKU in the first year and is expected to spend the second year at U Michigan. He/She will be required to complete the necessary administration procedures (including recruitment, visa application) for taking up an appointment at U of Michigan, pursuant to relevant terms of employment. Duties and Responsibilities Produce high quality research on the research priorities and clusters of both FOSS (HKU) and ISR (Michigan) Support FOSS and ISR colleagues in research dissemination events Assist FOSS and ISR colleagues in the preparation of research reports Perform other research related duties for FoSS and ISR Requirements a Ph.D. degree in social sciences discipline from a recognized university, awarded within the past three calendar years, or expected to obtain a Ph.D. degree by the start of the fellowship (no later than December 1, 2026). The SIT x NVIDIA AI Centre (SNAIC) is seeking a business-driven professional to lead industry partnerships and growth initiatives that expand the Centre’s commercial and strategic footprint. The role is responsible for identifying high-value collaboration opportunities, shaping business models for applied AI projects, and securing funding or co-development commitments that contribute to SNAIC’s long-term sustainability. Working at the intersection of technology and business, this role acts as SNAIC’s front-facing dealmaker, translating market demand, ecosystem signals, and AI innovation into viable partnerships across areas such as Generative AI, Large Language Models, Computer Vision, Digital Twins, and Multimodal AI. Success in this role requires strong commercial instincts, the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders, and the discipline to drive opportunities from early exploration through signed agreements and delivery. Key Responsibilities  1. Industry Engagement & Business Development Identify, qualify, and engage potential industry, government, and ecosystem partners for applied AI collaboration opportunities. Drive the deal process from initial discussion through to agreement. Manage active partnership accounts and track delivery milestones to ensure commitments, timelines, and outputs are met. 2. Marketing, Outreach & Positioning Contribute to industry events, workshops, showcases, and demos that strengthen SNAIC’s visibility and lead generation. Support development of partnership assets such as case studies, pitch decks, project proposals, and success stories. Work with internal teams to amplify SNAIC’s applied AI capabilities to targeted sectors and communities. 3. Data, Reporting & Pipeline Management Maintain an up-to-date CRM pipeline of leads, partners, proposals, and project statuses. Generate periodic dashboards and management reports on engagement performance, deal progress, and partnership outcomes. Ensure data accuracy and traceability across all stages of the partnership lifecycle. Job Requirement  Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data/AI, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in business development, partnerships, innovation projects, or roles involving both technical and commercial stakeholders. Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ideally in a cross-functional environment. Working understanding of AI concepts, use cases, and industry trends, with interest in areas such as Generative AI, LLMs, Computer Vision, or Digital Twins. Exposure to NVIDIA’s AI ecosystem (e.g., Omniverse, CUDA, DGX, NGC) is a plus, but not required. Strong communication and relationship management skills, able to engage industry partners and internal stakeholders confidently. Good writing and presentation abilities for proposals, pitch decks, and briefing materials. Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple partnership pipelines, timelines, and reporting needs. Comfortable using CRM tools, dashboards, or project tracking systems. Key Competencies Understanding of AI and emerging technologies. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to liaise confidently with both engineers and executives. Strong proposal writing, pitch deck creation, and presentation skills; able to tailor messaging for both technical and executive audiences. Able to interpret partner needs and convert them into feasible project scopes, requirements, or collaboration models. Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently. Collaborate with project researchers and specialists on a range of materiality studies. Complete three months of rock art fieldwork each year. Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 4 years. Base salary range: Level B, $118,150 – $139,812 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. Pilbara Dreaming: Rock Art, Water and Heritage Futures will demonstrate the critical role that Pilbara rock art has in the peopling and maintenance of the arid zone of Australia, from 50,000 years ago to the present. The interconnectivity of creation stories, art and water provides a unique lens on intergenerational knowledge transmission and cultural connections. The Pilbara’s mineral wealth is crucial to Australia’s economy, yet there is no heritage conservation strategy to protect this region’s cultural assets. This collaboration with Aboriginal Traditional Owners will reform policy and lead to improved conservation of heritage places of global significance. About the opportunity Make a significant contribution to understanding diachronic and synchronic symbolic behaviours at the national level. Key responsibilities include synthesis of background literature, participation in the schedule of fieldwork with 12 native title groups with a focus on rock art documentation, mobilise research content as part of the research team and develop stand-alone and collaborative research outputs around materiality and style, pigment recipes and dating. Work with support and guidance from senior Research Collaborators, and contribute to workshops, community meetings with Traditional Owners and Rangers, and develop co-presentations and publications. About you PhD in Archaeology specialising in rock art. A strong track record of excellence in research at a national level evidenced by a series of peer-reviewed journal articles published in high quality journals. Experience with FileMaker and Fulcrum data collection software and Adobe Lightroom for processing of photographic imagery collected during fieldwork. Experience with data analysis using software such as R for statistical analysis, including spatial statistics, 14C calibration, and site pattern recognition. Commitment to increasing Aboriginal peoples’ roles managing their own heritage.
