School of Mathematics and Computer Science The School of Mathematics and Computer Science is one of the leading academic Schools of the PNG University of Technology offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Mathematics and Computer Science. The postgraduate programs are Ph.D. and M. Phil in the two strands of the school. Both Ph.D. and M.Phil. are offered on campus. The undergraduate programs are Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. The school also offers Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics through the distance learning mode. The School annually publishes a refereed journal, research reports and annual reports. Lecturer in Mathematics Primary Responsibilities Key Responsibilities The suitable candidate for this position should have demonstrated teaching and/or industrial experience in mathematics with knowledge of Applied mathematics, mathematical modelling or other relevant areas.  All candidates will be required to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in mathematics, contribute to the department’s research and distance learning programs, actively participate in curriculum development and all departmental initiatives, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the school. Qualification & Experience A postgraduate degree in Mathematics or a related field from a recognized university is required for this position. Membership of a relevant professional association would be an asset. Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 2 years, with a possibility of further renewal subject to funding Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde The Role: An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and motivated researcher to join Macquarie University's School of Engineering and contribute to the project "Energy on Wheels: A New Approach to the Smart Grid with Electric Vehicles," a project funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC). You will develop a new model of electrical energy distribution, including renewable energy generation and electric vehicles. It will be used to optimize network resources across the grid, matched to energy supply and user demands. The project will include optimization and probabilistic analysis under practical engineering constraints. You will develop new tools for network optimization and performance analysis of a distributed smart grid with electric vehicles and renewable energy generation. You will collaborate with Profs Stephen Hanly, Iain Collings, Graham Town and Dr Hazer Inaltekin. There is a research plan that will guide the research but there is considerable scope for you to take a leadership role. There will be opportunities for supervision of postgraduate students as well. About the Role This distinguished Lecturer in Medical Education position will play a leading role in contribute to excellence of both the teaching and the learning across the suite of topics in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) course. This is an exciting opportunity to be apart of a new initiative to support MD students in preparing for their clinical Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE). You will have the opportunity to be involved in the writing and testing of new OSCE cases alongside the development of an innovative Virtual Classroom that will be made available to students to assist in preparation for their final clinical exam, as well as developing an evaluation to assess the impact of the Virtual Classroom on student preparedness and assessment outcomes. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to play a leading role across the following tasks: Making an independent contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching. Working alongside clinical partners and student representatives from the Flinders Medical Student Society in co-designing a debrief strategy for recorded OSCE cases Supporting the development of a new Virtual Classroom platform to aid student preparation for the MD OSCE. Contribute to the planning and evaluation of these topics, undertaking the role of Topic Coordinator as required.
