Applications are now invited for the following post: Research Assistant Professor Department of History (Post Ref.: 25/233) The Department of History (https://www.ln.edu.hk/history/) invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position in global history. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in areas not currently covered by our academic staff, such as South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Applicants with expertise in digital methods for historical analysis, as well as knowledge and practical skills in using digital applications for research and pedagogy, will be given preference. General Requirements Applicants should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree in history or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. They should have a good track record of publications and grant applications, a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and an interest in taking on service. The appointee is expected to publish scholarly outputs in international journals and/or with leading publishers, apply for competitive grants administered by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, other local/overseas competitive grants and/or fellowship schemes, teach courses in their areas of specialty (typically two to three courses per academic year); and perform administrative duties in accordance with the current guidelines. Appointment The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of two or three years. Renewal of contract may be considered, subject to availability of resources, performance review, and mutual agreement.
