We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor (Reader) in Predictive In Vitro Models to strengthen the University’s leadership in technology-driven biomedical research and advance our advance the 3Rs agenda. As a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, you will be expected to develop and lead a significant externally funded programme of research in line with the Faculty of Health and Medical Science’s mission of sustainably improve the health and wellbeing of humans and animals, and their environments through new knowledge and its application to the design, development and delivery of responsible innovation and impact. About the role Within the School of Veterinary Medicine, you will join the Section of Molecular Cellular Medicine within the Discipline of Comparative Biomedical Sciences. In the role you will: Establish and lead a sustainable research group, developing complex, multi-organ in vitro models for predictive disease research Work collaboratively with other researchers in the School to design and develop applications of in vitro models in their research areas Generate high quality publications and demonstrable impact Secure significant external research income to support the work of your research group Foster cross-disciplinary collaborations, including in silico modelling e.g. digital twins Enhance industry engagement and translational research impact. Mentor postgraduate research students and postdoctoral fellows Make high quality, research-led contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the School, including on the RCVS-accredited BVMSci veterinary degree course. About you Our Senior Lecturers and Associate Professors play an important role in advancing research and innovation and influencing the future of the veterinary profession. As such, you will have: Proven track record in technology-driven in vitro model development. Evidence of real-world application of models across multiple research fields. Ability to contribute to 3Rs objectives in cancer, pain, vascular and gut research. A proven track record of substantial external research grant income generation A proven commitment to delivery of inspiring, engaging learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level Experience in silico modelling collaborations to enhance predictive power and a strong track record of cross-sector partnerships (academia, industry, regulatory bodies) are desirable. Your personal sphere of play: The Faculty of Chemistry invites applications for the position of Senior Scientist at the Institute of Organic Chemistry. This position is for a one-year term, with the option of subsequent permanent employment. The successful candidate will assume a central and long-term role in the establishment, consolidation, and permanent integration of the Laboratory for Organic Manufacturing and Applied Research within the Institute’s research and teaching framework. The position serves to strengthen an applied research and innovation profile that complements the Institute’s established expertise in fundamental organic and molecular chemistry, ensuring a continuous linkage between basic research, application-oriented development, scalable manufacturing approaches, technology transfer, and societal impact. With a focus on sustainable organic and hybrid materials, green and circular chemistry, and responsible innovation, the Senior Scientist will contribute to the development and maintenance of stable innovation infrastructures and collaborations with academic, industrial, and technology transfer partners. Through the integration of applied research, prototype development, interdisciplinary teaching, and the supervision and mentoring of early-stage innovation and spin-off activities, the position supports the qualification of scientists at the interface of organic chemistry, materials science, engineering, and innovation. Your future tasks: Development and operation of applied research infrastructure: Establish, further develop, and coordinate the Laboratory for Organic Manufacturing and Applied Research as a permanent institutional platform for application-oriented chemical research within the Institute of Organic Chemistry. Applied research and technology translation: Conduct and support applied research activities in organic and hybrid materials, manufacturing processes, and functional chemical systems, with the objective of translating research results into scalable technologies, prototypes, and demonstrators. Innovation and technology transfer: Initiate, support, and accompany technology transfer activities, including cooperation with technology transfer offices, IP management, spin-off preparation, and collaboration with industrial and innovation partners. Project coordination and external cooperation: Develop and manage applied research and innovation projects in collaboration with academic groups, industry partners, innovation hubs, and funding bodies at the national and international level. Proven experience in application-oriented research, technology transfer, innovation management, and cooperation with non-academic partners. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The position will be directly supervised by Professor Mostafa Mobasher and will involve strong collaboration with the SHORES multidisciplinary research teams. The project will be focused on advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage of geomechanical materials when subjected a range of multiphysical loading regimes including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The direct applications of these research will be aimed at enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration. The project activities will involve the development of the theory and implementation of the advanced mechanics and numerical models as well as constitutive model calibration and validation based on physical experimental data. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of computational mechanics and computational geomechanics. Research Engineer / Fellow (Mechanical/Fire Engineering) - AN1

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an academic research project funded by MPA, where you will be part of the research team under the project titled: HarbourCraftSafe: Fire Resilinet Battery Room Design for Next-Gen Electric Habour. The project is in collaboration with two local industry collaborators. Under this job title, you will develop a CFD modelling platform to evaluate the combustion, flammable and toxic gases emission and dispersion characteristics resulted from battery fires/thermal runaway in the battery room and beyond, considering the various common battery chemistries in eHC and atmospheric conditions. You will also need to experimentally characterise the heat release rate (HRR), flammable and toxic gases emissions of various types of batteries potentially deployed in eHC through reduced scale testing. Lastly, you will also need to evaluate the various gas monitoring sensors performance in detecting the battery gas releases for remote monitoring and early detection, and evaluate the potential fire suppression strategies on battery fires. Job Responsibilities:  Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: i. Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students under the Project PI. ii. Meeting the deliverables by carrying out the computational simulations and experimental studies planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe to meet the deliverables. iii. Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects. iv. Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the PI. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements: Master or Ph.D (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Marine and Offshore Engineering or related fields. Strong knowledge and experience in battery fire simulation is high advantageous. Hands on experience on experimental studies Familiarity with CFD applications working on industrial related projects using high performance computing clusters would also be advantageous Strong foundation in Fluid Dynamics Strong prior experience in CFD – particularly in battery fire combustion and spread. Strong skills in turbulence modelling, CFD mesh generation in complex 3D geometries. Proficient in handling large data sets and the ability to analysis and interpret results. Experience in commercial CFD package such as ANSYS package and FDS is preferred. Candidate preferably should be familiar and have sufficient experience in using ANSYS FLUENT and FDS, Meshing tool and post-processing software. Able to work independently with strong data analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
